I just tried to post a photo I took of my Oscar report, but it said the file was too large.

I used sleephq.com for that reason.

It’s pretty easy to use and you just drag and drop from your hard drive into the file on that website once you create an account.

Hope that helps

IMGR is easy and user friendly. Good instructions in the sticky's here or we can help you figure it out.

The Oscar data is of very limited value at this point. There’s virtually no sleep data and the settings don’t really matter any more, since I got used to the exhaling. The inherent problem is that I cannot relax enough to fall asleep with a mask touching my face. I am hoping that using Ambien to force myself asleep tonight will do the trick to getting me on the right path. We shall see.

The good news- The Ambien did get me to fall asleep wearing the mask.

The bad news I woke up probably after about 2 hours and found the mask to be even more uncomfortable than normal. I wore it lying in bed while wide awake for another 20 minutes or so, I order to hit the 4 hour mark, then I took it off and read a magazine to get tired then finally went to sleep.

That's great news!
Seriously- That is the first step and a big one!

Saturday night went even better- I slept with the CPAP for over 4 hours!

well lookit you!

Hopefully you didn’t need an Ambien to do it but whatever works I guess.

Hopefully you become desensitized I can wear it comfortably throughout the night without having to take medication to do so.

Good luck!

It required Ambien. I am hoping that this will desensitize me enough to try it again naturally in the near future.

Saturday was the peak. Sunday I was only able to sleep with the mask for about 1.5 hours, even after taking Ambien. On Monday I couldn’t fall asleep with the mask on, despite taking Ambien. I emailed my doctor about it but still haven’t heard back, so I have stopped taking the Ambien to avoid becoming dependent on it (sleep with Ambien is not very good, I keep waking up with a headache.) I also stopped attempting to use the CPAP to avoid setting myself up for failure. I will probably return it in the near future and pursue a dental device or surgery.

I want to thank everyone for all the help- learning more about CPAP helped to confirm my belief that CPAP is not for me. Even if I could fall asleep using it, this seems like way too big a hassle, but at least now this is an informed decision.

I wish you the best in your journey. Let us know how you are doing once in a while.
Take care and I hope you find your cure.

I saw the double Doctor today- he is both a Dentist AND an ENT. He says my tonsils are too small to make a difference so we are going to try an oral appliance, pending insurance approval. If they don’t approve it I will have to make a decision as to whether I want to pay for the appliance or the eXcite OSA device to try to strengthen my tongue. I will report back once I find out the insurance situation.

You decided that CPAP was going to fail the day you brought it home. You ignored *a lot* of good advice.

You claim your insomnia is so bad, you can't sleep if you're wearing a watch or a wedding ring. And now you think you'll sleep OK with a dental contraption hanging out of your mouth.

Good Luck.

I knew CPAP would not work for me many, many years ago. Like most people with sleep apnea I found the treatment (CPAP) to be worse than the disease.

I DID learn a lot from this website, so thanks to many of you.

Can I use an oral appliance? I doubt it, but I don’t actually know.
If the insurance won’t cover it then I might go with eXciteOSA instead. If insurance covers the appliance, then I will try it first.

So mapping it out at this point my options are:
A)Oral Appliance
B)EXciteOSA
C)Separate bedrooms.

We will see.
