After Using the Breas Z2 Travel CPAP for 2 Weeks

Post by s_beecher1 » Fri Aug 05, 2022 5:47 pm

After getting this group's advice on travel CPAPs, I bought the Breas Z2 travel CPAP. As I posted here, I tried it one night at home using the Heat Moisture Exchanger thing which goes in the tube and I woke up in the middle of the night with my nasal passages burning. Per your advice here, I moistened it prior to use. So using this CPAP for two weeks on a trip this past month, I was very pleased with this travel CPAP. The Breas Z2 is a bit noisier than my Resmed Airsense home machine, but it didn't bother me at all. I did moisten the HME with water every few days. I also sanitized it by soaking in a solution of 1/3 cup of white vinegar to 1 cup of water about 4 times on the trip. I had no problems. I searched to find answers about moistening the HME but found none except the manufacturer's which says to replace the thing every 7 days.

I have no ill effects from my use of the CPAP and the HME. However, I am wondering if anyone knows any more about the use of the HME and moistening it.
Thanks so much.

I have a Z2 auto. I used it for a couple months when my Resmed Airsense 10 auto was out for repair and eventually replacement.
I only used the HME briefly for a few days, and frankly, I did not feel it was that effective, so I skipped using it.

I had an occasion to use the unit this June, first for one night at home to make sure it was working OK, and then for a few day on a trip back to Chicago.
I slept well, and had AHIs of approx. one. The unit does a decent job for a travel unit. Of course, I prefer my Resmed unit, and if space and weight is not an issue, I would use it. I did that on my 2 day drive from Chicago to Houston in FEB of 2020 since I was moving, and I had to bring that with me to use after relocation.

I used the Z2 for a few days when I flew down for my job interview in 2020, prior to my relocation as well. Again, I did not bother with the HME. I am lucky that I do OK without the humidity, although I do prefer to use it on my Resmed unit.
