Exhale Flow Rate Peak - EPR vs. No EPR

Post by Setj » Thu Jul 21, 2022 4:07 pm

My exhale flow peaks at -50 approximately on the OSCAR chart when my EPR is set to 3. When EPR is off, it peaks at -35 approximately.

Why? Is one better than the other?

My understanding is that the "front line" treatment for flow limits is to use max EPR setting of 3. One of the experts will come along and confirm or correct me.

An EPR of 3 means the machine drops its pressure the minute you transition from inhale to exhale.
An EPR of 3 gives you 3 cm h20 of Exhale Pressure Relief, and you're clearly exhaling more freely with it.
If the FL chart is cleaner with EPR 3 that's all to the good.
