Fine tuning with an Resmed Aircurve ASV

Post by The_Boaphile » Fri Jul 01, 2022 7:22 am

Well I have been nearly two years on my journey to get better numbers in my sleep. I used a Resmed Aircurve till about two weeks ago. I went from about 15 events per night with 30-45 minutes in apnea down to about 10 events most nights but 10-20 minutes in apnea. Most events were obstructive apnea. So I looked for a good deal on an ASV machine hoping that would help me improve.

So now with the ASV machine my events are about 5/hr which is about half. My time in apnea is always under 5 minutes. I'm assuming this is very good. I never has what is read by the machine as an obstructive apnea now. I get mostly Hypopneas now. Something I didn't get many of with the first machine.

I initially tried setting the machine at the most extreme pressure ranges it would allow so the machine could do what it does. That gave me a very restless night as the pressure swinging wildly was waking me over and over. So I have tried to reign it in so the extremes are more limited. I sleep very well at this point. But I did sleep very well before CPAP and nearly every night with CPAP since I started.

The setting on the machine are somewhat limited. I included a pic of the setting on the machine.

Do you have a suggestion to help reduce these hypopnea? Does it look like these events read by the machine are legit hypopneas?

Thank for the help!

Jeff

You won't ever see a separately flagged OA with this ASV machine because this machine doesn't use the FOT feature to tell the difference between Obstructive apnea or central apnea...it dumps both events in the "unclassified apnea" basket.

Meaningless because you are using a different machine with different algorithms and at different settings.

The hyponeas you zoomed in on....not real asleep flagged events. You weren't asleep so they don't matter and the way to fix them is not have the arousal/awakening.
And then you have flagged hyponeas during times of large leak and the large leak itself can affect accuracy of any flagged event.
