hi everyone
I want to ask a question, I just finished my sleep study with data like in the photo and I was declared quite severe sleep apnea and it is recommended to use cpap and I use airsense 11 with a p10 mask with settings like in the photo but I am only comfortable using the cpap for only 1 hour. I feel like I'm having trouble breathing, is the setting wrong or what, please advise, please guide me because I used the cpap for the first time thank you
ask please to see my sleep study and set cpap machine

Some questions please so we can have more/better history.
Where do you live?
This looks like a home sleep study and not an in lab sleep study report? Is that correct?
During this assumed home sleep study did you wear anything around your chest or abdomen? Some sort of belt maybe???
The reason I ask is that the report only shows "apneas" as one category but doesn't tell us what kind of apnea and the 2 different categories are very different in treatments. The CA category you see on the OSCAR report is clear airway/central apneas and treatment for central apneas can be totally different from treatment for obstructive apneas or hyponeas that are obstructive in nature.
Was it limited to some little prongs up your nose and a device clamped on to your finger?
Did you stay on your back the entire time? Was there some sort of device attached to monitor your position in bed?
It doesn't seem to report sleep stages at all so no way to determine sleep status....did you wear any sort of leads attached to your face or head?
Looks like maybe a type 4 sleep study report which is a limited study.
Go here and figure out what kind of study was done
http://freecpapadvice.com/home-sleep-tests
As for settings....results of any sleep study doesn't/can't give us any idea as to best settings to use.
Even more so when the results of the home sleep study doesn't tell us what we are fighting...central apneas or obstructive apneas since the plan of attack depends on what we are fighting.

Re: ask please to see my sleep study and set cpap machine
You are relatively young in the grand scheme of things...
Do you take any medications or use any drugs that might suppress respiration? Usually looking at some sort of pain meds in this regard.
I don't see anything that might explain the breathing issues you are describing while on cpap.
We might think lower pressure setting might explain the feeling of not moving air well but your pressure settings aren't that low at all.
How long have you been trying to use the cpap?
Did you do some practice sessions while awake with the mask and machine on? It's one of the things we often advise to new to cpap people so they can adjust easier while asleep. Watch TV or read a book and use the mask and machine...2 or 3 hours a day.
Can you try the next size larger in the P10 nasal pillow mask??? Sometimes that helps.
One thing you might try...reducing or just turning off EPR. If you really need it maybe set EPR to ramp only.
Since you have this machine at this time about all we can do is assume the bulk of your AHI is obstructive in nature and proceed that way for now. If you do have central apnea problem then that would have to be looked at separately and maybe differently as this machine doesn't really do well with dealing with central apneas but at this point we don't know for sure that you have a huge problem with centrals.
Go here and learn how to figure out if the centrals you see flagged are real asleep centrals or more related to arousal/awake breathing irregularities.

Re: ask please to see my sleep study and set cpap machine
Pugsy, it looks like the OP already has EPR for ramp only. I was actually going to suggest trying EPR of 1 as a regular setting to see whether that might help with the discomfort. What would you think about that?
To the OP: please do try using the machine during the day or evening as Pugsy suggests, setting it up somewhere other than your bedroom. You might even do that for a few days before you try using it at night again.
Your experience is common, and the keys to success are patience and perseverance. Many people, including me, have a rocky time at first and later find they can't imagine sleeping without the machine. So hang in there!

Ooops my bad. Can I blame it on old eyeballs and graph images too small??Miss Emerita wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 10:19 amPugsy, it looks like the OP already has EPR for ramp only. I really wish people would at least start with reading my "newbies please read thread" and then following links to what we like to see in the images. When I see images like that I know I wasted my time composing that thread. I hate to waste my time...puts me in a negative mood right off the bat which I try real hard to swallow.
To answer your question...by all means give EPR full time at any setting a try. I doubt very seriously EPR is to blame for centrals anyway and EPR full time might just help whatever perceived difficulties breathing the OP might have.
At this point I don't know if they are related to pressures or maybe even the mask itself. Could be the pillows got crimped or something...
and how many nights has the OP even tried cpap....one night or one month of nights???
One night wouldn't be so alarming...a month of one hour nights is another story.
To quote what I always have said...."gotta get the sleep first before we can even pretend to evaluate it"
One hour is simply not nearly enough sleep and I doubt he was asleep that entire hour anyway.

erickhiu, you would be wise to remove your personal data (name & DOB) from the sleep report. The rest of the report is helpful but the personal stuff can cause you problems you don't want or need.
Perhaps Pugsy would be so kind to remove that document link until you can edit out that personal info.
