Dreamwear Nasal and side sleeping

Post by Tammi2 » Fri Jun 17, 2022 9:34 am

I just started cpap therapy and have the Dreamwear Nasal (not nasal pillows). It is very comfortable and I hope I can get it to work. I frequently sleep on my side. Does anyone have tips for making it work without leaks when sleeping on my side? Seems to get louder and sometimes sounds like air leaking. Maybe I don’t have the straps tight enough.

Thanks

Find your model on youtube and watch three or four videos about fitting and adjusting.

One tip for side-sleepers, is to place your face near the edge of the pillow so that the mask "hangs" over the edge and isn't smushed into the pillow.

For good spine and hip health, side-sleepers should also place a small pillow between their knees.

I find this mask has to be a bit tighter than others to avoid leaks, but not so much that you give yourself a "piggy nose".
I used to sleep in one position all night, but now I have to turn more often. I place a finger under my nose and push up on the mask when I turn to sort of hold it in place and then wiggle it a bit in the final position. It also rides up in the back when I turn over so I usually have to readjust the back strap.

Try the headgear with arms, this will eliminate the straps from coming up from the back of the head.

In case anyone is wondering the Dreamwear headgear with arms is this

https://www.amazon.com/Headgear-DreamWe ... B07YQ9K18S

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/dreamw ... dgear-arms

I have no personal experience with this mask and headgear combination but I have seen reports from people saying it helped resolve mask movement leak issues by quite a bit.

I have the headgear with arms, but it still rides up.

I have the headgear with arms and at least for me has solved the problem.

Sometimes we just have to remember that what works well for one person doesn't always work out so great for the next person.
