ASV breathing issues..

Post by navbill » Tue Jun 14, 2022 5:01 pm

Hello,

I know a person who has a Resmed ASV. She started using it recently and she is a veteran ASV user. This is her
second ASV machine she has had. She made the settings in ASV auto mode the same as it was in her old machine.

She is complaining that the machine is breathing too fast for her after ramp mode. It is waking her up.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the machine but what adjustments can we make? Put it in ASV static mode?
I don't think her mask is leaking.

Scott

Hello,
welcome to the zoo!

is it possible to get your friend to log in here? i'm sort of afraid of this whole situation as it's fraught with possible misunderstanding. forum members tell you something which gets passed by you to your friend who then tells you that doesn't work. my worry is that somewhere in the chain, a detail or two is lost.

if the forum could communicate with her directly, i think that would severely cut down on any potential misunderstanding.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Have they tried taking everything apart, cleaning it, and securing everything back together? Or I believe there is the old trick of forcing the ASV to restart its algorithm by blowing back against the pressure for a couple seconds (note: I don't use an ASV, just relaying something I previously read here). The starting EPAP may also not be high enough, maybe they are having air hunger, and that causes them to hyperventilate/breath rapidly.

I'm suspicious of old (undocumented) "tricks".

That particular trick happens to work, in my own experience.
