Trouble with Mask leaking after DR follow up.

Post by Aldamire » Fri May 20, 2022 3:26 pm

Hey CPAP Friends,

I've been using my Airsense 10 for the last 3 months and was getting the hang of it until my doctor changed my pressures. When I first started, I went through the usual route of struggling to find a good mask that didn't leak, or hurt my head/face. Finally found the F&P Vitera mask, and was loving it! My original pressure settings were between 6 - 15. After my first checkup, they modified the pressure to be 12-15. This helped lower my AHI, however I found that my leak rate has gone up significantly since then. For reference, my average 95% leak rate before the change was around 17.00. However following the follow-up, my average leak rate is now around 35. I've adjusted the headstrap and changed out the cushion to make sure it was the equipment being faulty. Any suggestions for getting the Vitera to seal better at a more constant higher-pressure? I'm a big guy with a beard, so I'm use to SOME leaking, but i think it's starting to affect my AHI. I've attached a sample data from SleepHQ for reference.

Previously i tried other full face masks like the Resmed F20 and F30i, however I couldn't get either of them to work comfortably without excessive blowing in my eyes.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Hey CPAP Friends,
welcome to the zoo! while you wait for folk who use your mask to chime in, you may want to search youtube for mask fitting videos. be sure to put f&p vitera in the search field.

good luck!

oh and just fyi; sleephq is too new for us here at the forum. you may want to download oscar and use that instead.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Many masks eventually leak more because the headgear is soiled or worn out.
Sometimes the silicone parts lose strength.
This is why most masks have replaceable silicone components.
