Got my F&P Evora Full Face Mask !!

Post by Xchief30 » Mon May 09, 2022 3:30 pm

Got mine today !!! I ordered it last week and it said online preorder for May 9. Well it came in the mail today. Feels more comfortable than the F30i I am currently using . I also used the amara view and dreaeaar full face masks in the past. I got the fit pack that came with three mask sizes. XS , S-M and L . Comes with the S-M attached but even though I use the M in the Resmed series, I had to switch the Evora to the L cushion. Tested on my Airsense 11 with the maskfit mode, and it showed the seal was good. I will try it out to tonight and report back.

Yes I'm ok. Just been a little busy at to post. Mask is super comfortable and I get a great seal even with my trimmed beard. Only dislike is the disconnect by the mask when you need to use the bathroom in middle of the night. It's easy to disconnect, but reconnecting is tough. It is oval in shape and therefore needs to be put back on at the correct angle. I could see it being a problem for older folks and people with arthritis.

Why do you take it off to use the biffy at night? I have never taken mine off, just disconnect the large hose from the face mask short one and head to the bathroom. I have been at this since 2009 and have never heard the "elephant hose" comment from any of my family or quests. Old lady walking around the house at night with a mask with a hose dangling..... big deal!

You can purchase portable toilets, if price is issue, I used a Home Depot bucket for awhile :o Good luck friend.

Just got mine delivered today... I am assuming you set the CPAP to Full Face.

I am hoping this fixes my open mouth breathing problem....

Going to give it a test tonight...... nice to know by the replies it seems pretty good for most folks.

I like the mask but didn't do too well last night....

Questions.

What setting should I use on my CPAP machine....
Is it supposed to throw out a strong continuous air flow from what seems like the front... I having a hard time figuring out if it is the exhaust or a mask leak ,,, or both combines....

Got the ugly red face on my machine this morning... and by morning I could feel mask leaks on top although it doesn't seem to be there when I went to sleep and during the night when I woke up.

I keep a glass of water by the bed , during the night I like to take a drink or two and he plastic clips on the mask have a lot to be desired.... wish they were magnetic...

looking for any suggestions from those who are using or have tried this mask.... I do like it and will read through the brochure on fitting again to see what might help me....

Last night was my second night with this mask. I find it more comfortable than some I have used in the past. I'm not a hundred percent sure about it yet, but I will try it again tonight and see how it goes. I will let my wife try it after I decide if I am going to continue to use it or not.

So the leaks that are annoying are around the nasal cushion part of the mask? Is that correct? The part that goes under and around the nostrils????

Does it leak from the word go and you never can get it leak free no matter what during the initial mask fitting process or do the leaks come on during the night?

I normally don't use full face masks at all but someone donated the Evora a while back and I was just going to offer it up for someone who wanted it. Maybe I can pull it out and put it on and see if the size donated is something I can manage to work with to help you figure out if things could be adjusted to make it leak free but I need to know exactly where the leaks are coming from and do you ever get a leak free fit even if it is only for a short time.

It is a relatively new mask to the USA so I don't know how many members we have here on the forum that have much experience with that type of mask. So your pool of people with experience to draw upon might be a bit small.
I will see if I can maybe offer my thoughts on it once I have some time to try it out....assuming the size is sort of okay for me.
BUT....it most likely won't be today....Today is strawberry jam making day. I stemmed a gazillion berries yesterday so now I have to do something with them today.

Where did you get this mask from....are you under a time limit to make a decision for returning the mask or not?

I've been using the Evora Full Face mask for almost 2 weeks. It's the most comfortable and best sealing full face mask that I've ever used even with my trimmed beard. I believe I've tried practically all of them..... Amara view, Dreamwear full face, F20,F30, F30i. It comes with the S-M size cushion attached to the headgear, according to the manual if you have leaks around your nose, use the XS cushion. You can also adjust on the top of the head strap. Have you used the sizing guide that printed in the front of the manual ?? What size do you fall under there??? Over tightening can also cause leaks and willl make the mask uncomfortable to use. I used the S-M the first night but got a few leaks, so I tried the L the next night. My leaks got even worse. I went back to S-M and followed the guide how to tighten. It's been 12 days of use now and I'll loving it. I'm a side sleeper and that usually when the other brand mask cushions flex too much causing major leaks for me. The hard plastic on the Evora frame prevents the flexing of the cushion, preventing those leaks. The nose part is super comfy. This is only my opinion, your use may vary. As far as the clips, they are interesting. F&P didn't want to use magnets for those with pacemakers and other medial equipment that the magnets could interfere with. Hope I was able to help, any more questions feel free to post.

I did all of the of the above... using the size chart it looks perfect for the S-M and it feels great.. I began getting above the nose leaks.... after reading more I found I should switch to the XS.. I did that . a bit tight on face but the above the nose leaks were fixed.... however it gets leaks later on and then the fun begins... and can never be fixed by me so far..
I also tried the L cushion but was worse, .

Later on in the night leaks...most likely sweat and/or facial oil related (along with maybe some tossing and turning usual movements)....what, if anything, do you do to your face at bedtime?
