I can’t believe how tired I am everyday after using CPAP.
I’ve been using it for a month now and only able to sleep through the night this last week. But my daytime fatigue has been crippling. Getting out of bed in the morning is the hardest. I never had a problem like this before.
Last week the doc put me on a drug used for people with narcolepsy. It helps somewhat but there are days I just have to take a nap. And when I do I can’t get off the couch for hours.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Can you give us more detail? When you say you haven't been able to sleep through the night, does that mean you woke up briefly a couple times, a couple dozen times, was awake more than asleep? It will help you get more targeted responses if we know more. Do you know why your sleep is disrupted - mask discomfort, trouble breathing, jumpy legs, pain? Are you on any meds that can cause fragmented sleep as a side effect? One thing you'll want to know is if your machine data holds any clues. I'll let others more up to date help you on determining this. You need to know if your treatment is optimized or if you are still having a lot of events that are waking you.
When I first started CPAP I experienced a crash that took me weeks of extra sleep to recover. Varying views on why that can happen. One is that our body with untreated sleep apnea has lived with repeated surges of adrenaline and it can be a letdown without those levels of adrenaline. Once you go through a bit of a ruling out process as described above, hopefully you can soon be getting adequate hours and the quality of sleep needed to begin to recover.

Need to know full name of which machine/model you have (look in front and top) plus what mask and most important - what are your pressure settings?

Are you using the CPAP during the nap? You should be.devinfarrell wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 1:02 amthere are days I just have to take a nap. And when I do I can’t get off the couch for hours.
First, we need to find out if your CPAP therapy is effectively preventing sleep apnea. You could still be having apneas because the machine's pressure settings have not been optimized. Or there could be excess mask leak. Go to youtube and watch a video explaining how to read a daily report on the machine's display. Tell us your AHI, hours used, and leak level for the most recent night.
Please enter your machine model and mask in the signature block of your user profile.
Please keep the conversation in this thread. Do not start a new thread with different questions.
Welcome!

Medication might be a factor. Take a good hard look at your prescription and non-prescription meds.
Also, anecdotally, I saw a change in my sleep after CPAP therapy started. I used to sleep fitfully at night and then nap whenever I could during the day. After starting CPAP therapy, I suddenly found that I could not sleep at night at all, really. Or so it seemed. Then I realized the problem was that I no longer needed the daytime naps; the naps themselves were driving nighttime insomnia. So, I stopped napping and the night time sleep issues ceased.
