How to generate compliance report from airsense 10 for medical/insurance purposes?

Post by ronragus » Wed Dec 30, 2020 9:58 am

Hi, I want to see if I can generate compliance report for my airsence 10 for like say insurance purposes if needed, to justify that I am >70% compliant with cpap for each day over 4hrs usage. Is this something that can be done using sleepy head, or do I have to find a way to install the resmed software myself?

Thanks!

Ron

Most likely your insurance company won't know about SleepyHead/OSCAR and won't care to know.
They would probably only trust ResScan.
ResScan is Windows only though...it's easy to get though..you can find out how over on the apneaboard.com forum. Must be logged in though to find it.

Now you could do it with SleepyHead/OSCAR but the insurance company probably won't trust that software since it's not something they are familiar with and isn't ResMed made.

The myair app will send this daily if you have a cell signal.

Compliance is only the least you can use it to justify having the XPAP paid on by INS, It's not the goal.
The Goal is to make your health as good as you can, that means use it EVERY TIME you sleep, for all the time you sleep, 4 hours isn't a goal for treatment, it's a INS minimum requirement to play their Game.

Also use Oscar to make your treatment as good as it can be. Jim
Use data to optimize your xPAP treatment!

Thank you Pugsy! Do you know if it requires contacting resmed to link my account to my exact Cpap machine? or do I just need to insert SD card into PC for pulling data, so no need to contact resmed? thanks!

Using ResScan doesn't require ResMed to know anything. I have ResScan and ResMed doesn't know I exist.
I will send you a PM for ResScan 5.9....there is a later version but it is a PITA to use as it requires all sorts of passwords and people are bitching about it and it doesn't affect the reports or data you see. It's DME/doctor security thing.
ResScan is a bitch to use though.

Another option would be to use the myAir app on your smart device (I know it's available on Apple) to generate a report.

The myAir app itself is very basic but it now has the ability to generate a report that looks back over the past year including usage data.

Of course, to use this...you have to turn on your AirSense 10's cell phone capability (if you have it off/disconnected) so that your machine can upload the data to ResMed (no personal information is sent - only the usage data and Model/Serial Number of your device.

You then download the app - set up a profile (you can use a fake name/throw-away/one-time e-mail address for security/anonymity) where you'll tell the app your machine info & serial number. It will then download your usage data, AHI info, mask seal data, etc into the app.

From within the app you can generate a report - see the enclosed report from my machine that I generated from the app. It will show 30-day, 90-day, and 365-day usage/AHI/leak info.

I know the above sounds like too many steps for some who want simple...but it's a one-time setup and the app gets updated once a day with your data from ResMed....and it's all free!

I'm curious, as to those with ResMed CPAP/Bi-Pap machines AND who are required to generate compliance reports (ex. truck drivers, train operators, other heavy equipment operators, pilots, etc...) for various reasons (insurance, gov't regulations, etc...).

...Does the ResMed myAir app generated report (such as the example I included above) suffice for those type of compliance reports?

It seems as though the ResMed myAir app report would easily meet the requirement - or do those that require these types of compliance reports not allow you to turn in your own report?

I was surprised to read online that there are companies that actually charge groups of people to generate a compliance report for them...based upon their data on their SD card. Does anyone know what they charge?

Requirements for CPAP/BIPAP Compliance Report is an ongoing requirement for Commercial Drivers. DOT Medical exam is required every two years and that exam requires CPAP Compliance Report > 70% Utilization of 4 hours or more per day.

Some school districts require the DOT Medical exam every year for school bus drivers.

The OSCAR report has been adequate for meeting this requirement for official purposes. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Some local officials may want to generate their own report--to avoid any "user editing."
Bring the sd card along, just in case.

The agency requiring the compliance report may well have requirements about what form the report must take.

The first page of OSCAR's Statistics report has all the information needed for compliance. Some organizations may be satisfied with that. Others may require a report from the manufacturer's software. Others may require a report from the DME based on data your machine transmits automatically or on your SD card.

My doctor is happy with my OSCAR Statistics report. I'm not sure whether Medicare accepted that or required a report the DME fax'ed to my doctor and that was created by AirView.

So is my doc. In fact she is always excited to see it esp. when it shows 100% use. I'm also on Medicare and use a mail order DME who has no idea what my serial sure # is - so I'm pretty certain that Medicare accepts your fine work too.

Keep up the good work.

Yes, that report is sufficient. Although, I did have D.O.T. accept just looking at the my Air app, on my phone, using history to see hours of usage, during an inspection, at a weight scale.
