Recall

Post by chriml » Sat Jan 22, 2022 1:39 pm

Hi everyone I haven’t been on here for a while but recently as I’m sure some of you know my respironics cpap machine was recalled. I actually have two of the same model. I paid for these outright as my insurance will not cover this. I stopped using it and started using my travel machine but I hate it. I have put my info into the recall but when I contacted them they said It could take over a year to get a replacement or new part. I was going to purchase a new one but right now they are so pricey as everything else right now. Do you think it’s ok to still use this machine until and if a replacement is made ?

Be specific! Which machine model do you have?
There are only certain "generational models" of the Philips/Respironics machines that are affected.
Only the "P/R System One" series and "Dreamstation One" series are affected.

Models prior to those and the P/R Dreamstation 2 are not affected.

But the "Nightmare-station 2" is not compatible with Oscar.

There is a part available to a DIY repair of the System One machines.
I saw it mentioned here and available on Amazon.

Anyone got the link to Amazon handy? I didn't save it.

Edit...nevermind...looks like it is for the DreamStation models and not System One models.
I don't know if a similar product is available for the System One models.

I don't know if OP has a System One or DreamStation model.

OK. Thanks.
"In my opinion" there are two conditions which may affect this recall and the usability of the machine.
One is whether you are using a humidifier tank (with water).
IF (BIG IF) there any particles coming out of the machine, they will fall into the tank and stay there in the water.
The other condition is if you have ever used a "cleaning machine" (like a So Clean) that seems to be known to degrade the foam. If you've never used one, your odds are much better with regard to the foam degradation.

Thank you . I do use the humidifier and no I clean my hose and mask with soap and water. The travel machine I have now has no humidifier and with the heat on as it is so cold in NY. My sinuses are suffer. I don’t even know if respironics will send me a replacement and when.
