Trouble downloading data to Oscar

Post by jcpruitt89 » Mon Jan 10, 2022 3:47 pm

So I got my new Philips dreamstation 2 in and it did not come with an SD card. So I used my SD card from my original dreamstation. When I try to download my SD card to my Oscar it says that all my data is already up to date and it does not show any uploads from my new machine. What am I doing wrong??

You aren't doing anything wrong.
OSCAR isn't yet compatible with the data from the SD card because Respironics has purposely encrypted the data and made it so OSCAR won't work with it.
We don't know when or even if the OSCAR team will get the DreamStation 2 models to work.
Respironics is using a revolving encryption system so the key to unlocking the data changes all the time.

Why would they do such a thing? That is very frustrating as I use Oscar on a daily basis to manage my symptoms. Are there any alternative sleep softwares that would work?

They do it because they want to shut the patients out of the loop because that is what their "real" customers (DMEs,Doctors) want to force people to go to the medical professionals to get the data.

No work arounds at this time that I am aware of. The OSCAR development team made a request to Respironics higher ups to get the encryption key and got a long winded negative reply that was essentially....screw you. It (the reply from Respironics) was posted for reading here a while back and on the apneaboard forum.
Reminds me a lot of the ENIGMA coding machine used in World War II by Germany....the encryption code changed daily.

I don't know if even Encore Pro 2.xxx will work or not. Encore is Respironics software and we used to have a source for it but don't now. Besides it was a PITA to install and use and Windows only. Horrible software.
I don't participate over at the apneaboard forum but you might ask over there to see if someone knows if Encore Pro will work or not with the DreamStation 2 machines.

I got so mad at Respironics over the foamgate deal and now this encryption thing that I no longer want to have anything to do with them at all.....machines or any of their products. I refuse to recommend them at all.
I tell people to get a ResMed machine if at all possible.

We are obviously knowledgeable about the OSCAR software and understand that some users would like to obtain more granular data from their therapy. From the evaluations we conducted during the development of DreamMapper, we learned that providing too much information by default is confusing and raises more questions than it answers. The result of this exercise is DreamMapper where the necessary therapy data is offered with the necessary support to achieve adherence (instructional videos, motivation).

Of course we understand that for some users, and this is rather a very limited group, the information offered is too limited and they would like to obtain additional data. In this case, we recommend contacting your home care provider and/or treating physician who can print and hand over a detailed report or possibly offer it to the users through their systems (just like blood analyses and imaging protocols). However, professionals should not fail here as suggested. Therapy support/counseling is further regulated by law and should be performed by wake professionals who have a healthcare relationship with the patient.

We cannot support, promote or encourage products, accessories and actions that have not been developed or validated by the manufacturer under any circumstances. This has led in the past to very serious problems (cfr. cleaning with ozone) and caused a lot of damage to the company.

For this reason, unfortunately, we cannot accept this request.

We would like to provide an extensive training regarding DreamMapper. Including motivational interviewing that is incorporated into the app, discuss the study results where the use of DreamMapper with the benefits regarding therapy compliance for a selected patient group. In the attachment I am already sending some additional info.

If I can be of any further assistance in this, please let me know,

With kind regards,

Mikel

Discrimination in favor of patients who have the resources to PAY a provider for data.
Sounds illegal . . .
Especially as insurance is unlikely to pick up the tab.
