Dialing in comfort with humidity and heater hose?
Re: Dialing in comfort with humidity and heater hose?
Tube temp of 86 and humidity of 6 seemed to work great last night! Nose didn't burn and no rainout.

Excellent. Now you can start tweaking things if you need when you are comfortable doing so. Maybe try 82F-84F and 5 humidity, or 79F-81F and 4 humidity.

These settings seem to be working really well. It's right on the edge of rainout which I think I need.

That’s great news. Keep in mind over time the heated tube will not heat like it does when new. I replace mine at about 6 months, but YMMV as you are using it warmer. Keep a backup if you can.

Re: Dialing in comfort with humidity and heater hose?
This is again for sure one of those YMMV things. I have been using the same ResMed AirSense/AirCurve 10 heated hose through 3 different machines and well over 3 years now. Still works perfectly. During the winter months...maxed out at 86 degrees.
We all should have a back up of pretty much everything.....just in case. Murphy's Law says if something is going to break it's going to be on Friday night of a holiday weekend. I have personally broken 3 water chambers....all on a Friday night.

Murphy was an optimist. If anything can go wrong, not only will it, it already has but you haven’t noticed it yet.
Have backups. and backups of backups. And in Pugsy’s case with water chambers backups of backups of backups.

Nothing "works" like it does when it is brand new. But, if you're suggesting that your heated hoses have a practical life of about six months, that's nonsense.

As I wrote, I replace mine at 6 months and YMMV. I said nothing about that being the practical life.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 9:19 amNothing "works" like it does when it is brand new. That's why I said "suggesting". And while you never "said" it, commenting that equipment doesn't perform as it should and you replace it every six months, certainly does "suggest" a practical life of about 6 months.Jlfinkels wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 9:23 amAs I wrote, I replace mine at 6 months and YMMV. But, if you're content throwing out perfectly good equipment, carry on. There's still lots of room in the landfills, and the unnecessary and artificial excess demand helps keep the prices high.

Re: Dialing in comfort with humidity and heater hose?
I nearly gave the OK for a new heated hose, but then I found the new, unopened hose.
I am still using the original one that came with my machine in early 2020.
Maybe I will swap it out on my machine's 2nd birthday.
