I think it is time to go to auto mode..
Minimum 10...
Maximum 20 (I don't expect it to go anywhere near 20 but it won't go anywhere without a good reason).

Your AHI is a bit higher than I would like to see and it's mostly OA and hyponea and the fix is let the machine go a little higher.

How are you sleeping and feeling? That's really more important than the numbers.

It's winter time and I have been sleeping hard rather than being in a deep sleep, if that makes sense. I am not waking up refreshed, I'm waking up groggy, sometimes going straight back to sleep for an additional hour or two.

Edited to add: let me hang loose a minute, while I start getting protein back in my body. I looked over my recent hemoglobin levels and I'm just shy of normal levels, thus may be the reason my AHI and energy levels are off.

Pugsy, sorry I haven't been around these parts more regularly, nor tried to go into APAP mode.

January 17th, I had got rice stuck in my esophagus and was ER bound. Luckily while in the ambulance, the rice started going down and the ER just had me go home after they consulted with me. After I got home, I thought the incident triggered an asthma attack and I grabbed the rescue inhaler, which wasn't good for an already stressful night on my heart and I felt very large and fast beats.

February 17th I had went to my primary care physician's office because of unusual "flutters" and they had an EKG done on me. The EKG results came back with Myocardial Infarction - the primary care doctor panicked asking if I had a heart attack recently. I stupidly thought "no" but part of me today wonders if the January 17th heart event was indeed a heart attack...mild thank you Jesus.

Fast forward to yesterday, March 18th and I met the cardiologist. He's going to have me on a 24 hour heart monitor which I pick up today and then in a couple of weeks have an Echocardiography done and about a week later, a nuclear scan exercise test

Once a prognosis and proper diagnosis is given by the cardiologist, I'll explore going to where most men and women haven't gone before, APAP mode

Wow, lots on your plate for sure.
No rush for auto mode experiment and not critical so as you feel up to it.
Good luck.

Just had the Horter device on me for 24 hours. Painless to put on but felt like Steve Carell in "The 40 Year Old Virgin" taking the chest pads off.

Recently I have been getting good sleep with the cpap therapy, so there's that. :)

so I never updated you guys about my health. The ticker is okay - just stay away from coffee, espresso and too much soda.

Someone just messaged me at 10:00 pm on Facebook, who lives in my city, stating they were giving away a never used Resmed Airsense 10 auto set.
Serial number (21)2302169553 If this machine is legit, I'll register it with my sleep specialist and DME provider so that I can get the the necessary filters and tubing on a monthly basis until Philips fixes their mess.

Edit: also changed my avatar to my dog. Love this lil' stinker of a boy

question: can I use the SD Card that has been in my Dream Station, in the Resmed that I was gifted? Will the Resmed override the Dream station files or will it scramble the card?

I don't know the answer to that question. If you were using a S9 I would tell you no because S9 machines didn't like any extra stuff on the SD card but I don't know if the AirSense will care or not.
You can insert the card in the AirSense and watch the screen as the machine does its thing with the SD card. If it doesn't like the other files it will tell you and likely prompt you to erase the card which at that point you could back out if you wish.

To be safe, I'll buy a new card.

Edit: I took some Oscar snap shots before hand and put the folder from the card on my computer. The card was overwritten successfully on the Resmed 10

So I had a question: I have casually mentioned a couple of times to my sleep specialist about Oscar, prior to the pandemic, when I was at his office. My next physical appointment with my sleep specialist is in December and I wanted to share more with him about Oscar, so he's educated on what Oscar is about, but not sure where to start and I also don't want to over burden him with too much information in one visit.

To those who have sleep specialists that do approve of Oscar, how did you introduce them to it ?

I ended up giving my Resmed Autoset 10 (that was gifted to me) to a friend who was in need of an APAP machine, because Kaiser Permanente told her that CPAP machines are not covered by insurance.

The replacement Dreamstation 2 that the DME provider gave me about two weeks prior, has an Autoset function.

I'm thinking about trying Auto mode to see how well my sleep is in comparison to just CPAP mode. Currently my machine is set to 10 on CPAP mode. What should I set auto set to? I know there's a minimum and maximum on air for auto set...just not sure what to set at.

Impossible to do any sort of suggestion without knowing what was going on with the fixed 10 cm pressure in cpap mode.
To make things worse the DreamStation 2 isn't compatible with OSCAR so there is no way to really judge any results of any wild ass guesses we would make for auto mode settings. The detail you can get off the machine LCD screen is severely limited.

If all you are wanting to do is just evaluate sleep quality itself...
here's a wild ass guess

Auto mode
Minimum 10
Maximum 20
Flex...your choice...just play with all the settings and pick the one that just feels the best.
See how you sleep...

You would be better off with the ResMed you gave away than with this replacement machine.
We have no idea when...or if...the DreamStation 2 will ever be compatible with OSCAR.

Hello CPAP Talk peeps.

I thought I'd give you a heads up of what I've been up to. I've been upgraded to the Resmed f30i mask and it's been comfortable, but took a while to get used to. In the past month I have been woken up by the irritating (slight burning feeling) of foam entering my airway from my Dream Station 2, similar feeling to what I had a couple of times from the Dream Station 1. The first time with the DS2, I checked my humidifier and sure enough there were foam particles inside of it.

I reached out to Philips, they're trying to say it's user error, why the silicone foam is blowing into my airway.  So I've reached out to the FDA in Alameda, California (the local office) by phone. They gave me their email address so I could email them the photo of the foam in the humidifier. My local DME provider is exclusively Philips Respironics only, but is trying to assist me in finding a non Philips CPAP machine. He asked if I would take a used machine and I told him, preferably new but willing to take used if needed to.

I'm still using the DS2 until it can be replaced.

So...how's everyone else doing? :D

Most of us doing well...a little grumpy here and there and the usual little spats between members that is giving me a headache ...but doing well for the most part.
Me personally...don't know if you had a chance to know about my getting a spinal cord stimulator for pain management last winter...but I did and while it isn't perfect it did help reduce the pain in the hip area while walking and that's a big plus.

I read your comments about the DS2 and the foam and it concerns me.
I am going to start a new topic/thread and refer back to your comments about the foam.
I feel people should be aware that one person we know is having foam issues even with the DreamStation 2 which supposedly they changed to a "better" foam insulation.

Please keep us updated about the foam thing...and by all means...get a different brand cpap machine. I have been telling you that for years.
Even a slightly used ResMed machine would be a better choice.
Just be careful what they offer....not all are full data machines and/or work with OSCAR.

I'm glad that the spinal cord treatment is helping a bit with your pain treatment.

As far as my DS2 foam issues go, I can honestly say I'm not surprised. While I may be the "first" at least my area to report it to my DME provider, I know others will eventually report it. It kind of makes sense, Niko from CPAP Reviews YouTube channel did dissect a DS 2 a few months ago in a video showing just how brittle the new silicon foam is. *shrugs* it is what it is. The DME Provider asked if I wanted to file a lawsuit against Philips, that he had lawyers available if I so choose. I opted not to just because I don't want to deal with that crap. I told the FDA and that's good enough for me.

I'm going to wait to see what the DME provider is going to find me, used or new. If it's something beyond 10 - 15 years old, I'll probably pass. I'm trying to give him time to do research. If worse comes to worse, I'll bug my roommate to see if he'd be willing to let me have his Resmed Airsense 10. He doesn't use his CPAP machine even though he should.
