Humidifier Question

Post by RE144 » Wed Nov 24, 2021 6:05 pm

Lately i seem to be using almost all the water out of my humidifier by morning....

The dry air wakes me up........

I might add that i have been waking up 2 or 3 times a night and get a drink of water....

I have turned up the humidifier on my furnace to the highest I can get and my cpap is set at 4... I did bump it up to 5 because i was so dry in the morning... but now it ruins right through all the water...

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated....

What is the ambient humidity in your bedroom?

What model and brand machine??? Does it show leak rate? If so, what are the leak numbers?

What mask are you using?

What pressure settings are you using?

while it doesn't fix your humidity problem, this wee discs promote saliva. put 'em in at bedtime and they slowly dissolve overnight.

either at your local drugstore or certainly on amazon.

good luck!

Just to be clear...are you saying your ambient humidity is 16%?
Where do you live?
If so, no wonder you are using up all the water.

16 % is really, really low humidity...even if you lived in the high desert which you don't.
Today the humidity in Las Vegas is 12 %...just barely less than yours. Not normal for your area for sure.

It's no wonder you are using up all the water from the water chamber and your mouth is dry.
If you have a humidifier added to the house furnace....get it checked out because it doesn't seem like it is doing anything.

Short term...maybe add a humidifier to the bedroom only???????
Long term...figure out why your air is so dry and fix it.

I don't know...whatever keeps you comfortable and doesn't cause you to use up all the water before the night is over with.
Somewhere between 30 and 60% probably.
Where I live in SW Missouri...gas/propane furnace....no wood heat...mine runs 45% to 60% (in the bedroom per one of those gizmos like you have) unless it's raining outside then it can go higher if I have the windows open.

Check your outside humidity at your local weather station. It should be a lot more than in the teens.
I just checked Pittsburgh PA and it was 80% and raining or trying to rain.

Something is drying out the air in your house by a lot. Your machine is doing the best it can do to moisturize your air but it can't keep up when the ambient moisture level is so low.

You hit it on the head... it seems my furnace isn't working right.... it overheats and shuts off then as soon as it cools down, it comes back on ./

Way too many on and offs so my humidifier doesn't get a chance to put enough moisture in the air .. Going furnace shopping now..
