Heated Tubing???

Post by AfibApnea » Mon Oct 04, 2021 1:09 pm

I'm currently searching for prices on new ResMed AirCurve 10 ASV units.

I thought all tubing for all ResMed and PR devices was the same--kinky, translucent, rubber tubing.

Now, I understand ResMed has a heated hose. Is this type of hose the same as all the hoses that come with masks or is there something unique about them relating to using the humidifier?
Is this the standard ResMed hose? Must it be used if one is not humidifying?

In the process of looking at https://www.theperfectcpap.com/collections/hoses notice that there is a Philips Respironics Heated Slim Tubing for DreamStation & System One "60 Series" REMstar CPAP & BiPAP Machines advertised (for a pretty $40 penny) shown.

In years of using my (now recalled) PR System 60 I never knew there existed a hose unique to using the humidifier! Can you explain more about this?

Finally, I'm seeing different prices from different companies for Brand New ResMed AirCurve 10 ASV.
Are there any Buyer Beware recommendations you can relate thatapply to shopping on the Internet for a new unit? Are there places to go to ensure a company can be trusted?

The heated hoses are unique. There is Heated hose that fits the S9 series and a different one that fits the Airsense/AirCurve series.

It's heated. Period.

The standard hose is unheated.

It warms up and stays warm all night.

The System One 60 series was heated hose CAPABLE but not all 60 series machines had the necessary equipment to utilize the available heated hose.
A special lid to the humidifier is needed and an 80 watt power supply was needed.
And you had to use the humidifier box because the heated hose got its power through a special plug in thing where the hose attaches to the humidifier.

ResMed AirSense/AirCurve machines have humidifiers built in. No need for a separate device to generate humidity.
Heated hoses with those machines are independent of humidity setting meaning a person could use a heated hose and not necessarily use added moisture.
Hose air temp and humidity settings are separate and not dependent on each other.

#1) Seems that while waiting for ResMed to manufacture ASV machines I’ll have to try out the Philips Respironics Heated Slim Tubing for DreamStation & System One "60 Series" REMstar CPAP & BiPAP Machineshttps://www.theperfectcpap.com/collections/hoses

It's got this odd little c lippy at the end... Considering the outlet for the PR humidifier unit is plastic, how does this Heated tubing actually heat?

The same precautions as with buying any product.
I thought there might be some licensing or compliance standards makers/sellers of medical equipment needed to apply for...

The 60 Series machines that are heated hose capable have a different lid with power to the connection where the hose is attached to the humidifier.

There was an upgrade kit available for non heated hose capable 60 series machines. I had to get one of those kits.

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-hea ... pgrade-kit

So with proper humidifier lid there is a power source where the heated hose attaches. You can't easily see it though from just pictures online.

non heated hose lid

heated hose lid.....look closely and zoom in...there's a power supply in one of those connectors.

Heated hose was optional and not all 60 series machines came with that option.

OK...besides scores of companies that claim they have no ResMed AirCurve 10 BiPAP ASV units, I've found one selling a few units (claimed new) for $2900. How does that compare to the pre-recall charge?

I'm desperate so I think I'm going for it.

Since there's no way to check out the company, I have to assume everything is on the up-and-up.
The company only has a limited selection because there's a 2-year semiconductor shortage and (of course) the Philips recall.

Given this, is there anything I need to look for when receiving the unit to ensure it's brand new and all is on the up-and-up.

BTW: Are there warranties on these machines?

One more thing: I'm hoping to file a claim with Apria to at least get partial payment for it.

New bit of information...
What's the difference between the following three (machines?):
- AirCurve 10 ASV USA CO
- AirCurve 10 ASV USA TRI
- AirCurve 10 ASV 3G CO
