Hi everyone. This is my first post here so cheers to all of you.
I have been a CPAP user for 15 years and I must say that I have never gotten used to this therapy.
I never really felt good in the morning, I usually had a headache, dizziness, and drowsiness.
In my country, social security provides you with the CPAP machine and it was not until last week that I purchased a Resmed Airsense 10 waiting for the big change. Nothing is further from reality...
I do not rest, the headaches are getting worse, I am sleepy ..
AHI seems to be fine, less than 1 in the periods but I don't feel good at all.
With CPAP, my last sleep studies indicated a mean pressure of 12, which is why I set the AUTO CPAP 8 minimum and 12 maximum.
I do not know what is the problem. I'm lost.
Maybe at very high pressures, am I leaking through my mouth? I don't wake up with a dry mouth.
I am a teacher in primary education and you cannot imagine what it is like to work with 27 children tired, fatigued and with a headache. Hell alive...
Any help is welcome.
Thank you!

Re: Auto Cpap and headache
welcome to the zoo! sorry you are having such difficulties.
are you saying things got worse with the resmed? which machine were you using before?
you mentioned your pressure settings and your ahi. it certainly sounds like you are being well treated, at least on paper.
do you happen to use the free software, oscar, to track your sleep apnea? if so, please post some graphs and let the experts here go over them.
if not, it can be had here-
https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/
installation here-
http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph ... stallation
and finally here's how to format the graphs so the experts can interpret-
https://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php? ... 9#p1390059
yup, it looks like a lot and it is! but it gets to the actual data that is needed in order to figure things out. and if you have any problems with any of this, feel free to ask.
good luck!

Re: Auto Cpap and headache
Hi!
I have not yet tested the reporting software. I want to do it this weekend that I will have more time.
On the other hand, last night I covered my mouth with tape and the result is 8 episodes of apnea per hour. The worst night's rest, if possible, in a long time.
I will try to get the reports this weekend and post them here. I recently bought this watch https://www.concordhealthsupply.com/Wri ... /75006.htm so I will include oximeter report and pulse too.
Thank you very much, really ..
All the best!!

Is there a way you can have a home sleep study done with a pulse oxygen meter on your finger? I was waking up with headaches because my oxygen level was too low because of nasal congestion. If you forcing your mouth to stay closed it will be even lower oxygen. I would suggest a full face mask instead of using tape on your mouth. Oxygen levels that get below 80 can be fatal so you want to make sure your getting enough oxygen. If your doctor can't supply you with a Pulse oxygen meter you can buy one off amazon or just buy a full face mask covers the mouth and nose that's what I did. Just don't tighten the mask too much should be just enough to seal using the seal test.

He's overseas and not complaining of e.g. a dry mouth, but it's also not very likely that he'll get a home study (on ?? insurance) any time soon.
To boneman - it's possible your machine pressures are not set adequately for your needs so please tell us what they're set at and if necessary we can help you adjust them better.

I definitely feel for you, have had my damn machine for 10 yrs now, ENT Doc has no idea why I still have head pains [ear, sinus, neck]. Sinus decongestant would help after a while, also a Bacteria inline hose filter has helped too. I have also used a couple of Eucalyptus oil drops in my humidifier water which has helped me (not every day, about every 7 - 10 days or less).bonoman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 21, 2021 11:23 am

My headaches are worse when I end up rolling side to side or slide down. When I was in the truck sleeper, I would prop pillows up under my back-head and legs, best sleep, little to-no rolling. So now after seeing a Neurologist, he blames compressed discs {3 plus 2 fused} in my neck and pressure on the Vagus nerves with (for now) Neck PT treatment. Since I have stopped driving, I have to watch the pillows placement, flipping daily. My ahi is still below 5 but above 1 - 2, but that's alright if the headaches are small. I have a bamboo, a soft, and a foam pillow stepped for no pressure points, keeps head higher than heart.
