OT??? CPAP Helmet ???

Post by GrumpyHere » Mon Sep 20, 2021 10:28 am

I was goofing around when I googled for doggie CPAP.
But there are actual products for humans and animals.
https://harol.it/en/

AND apparently there are members who are willing to wear Darth Vader helmet, fish bowl helmet, deep sea diving bell helmet for their therapy.

So just throwing these images out there

It doesn't look comfortable but YMMV

The old geezer looks unhappy--and vocal, if he could be heard.
I can see this one used as an involuntary "cone of silence" for disruptive patients.

In Italy, overwhelmed hospitals appear to have used the bubble helmets extensively. https://www.businessinsider.com/video-t ... r=US&IR=T . The article is from March of 2020. The ICU's are overwhelmed and the video is from an emergency ward.

I wonder if UNMC used that when they had Ebola patients.
It would make sense with comatose patients or anyone not used to cpap masks.
And the exhaled air can easily be captured for sterilization.

Ebola is not spread via airborne transmission so the helmet would be useless except in treating an ebola victim's OSA. I understand vomiting is one of the common symptoms of ebola so it seems it might be impractical?
