Several questions please

Post by Country4ever » Wed Sep 15, 2021 9:58 am

Hi. I haven't been here for awhile.

I've been on pretty much the same settings for many years. I have a Resmed and am still using the original swift nasal pillows and taping my mouth closed. My setting is around 10. I have a very funky body. I have GERD, IBS, but am not on any meds for that since the GERD part seems under control. I only occasionally have a little heartburn. I also have a history of having periods of lots of benign PVCs (irregular heart beats) which always seems to occur when I'm having GI problems too. A couple weeks ago my usual burping went crazy. I could win the burping olympics! I'm serious. But, along with that came a bunch of my irregular heartbeats. Those irregular heartbeats always seem to happen if I have a lot of air in my stomach and/or my esophagus is irritated. I've started thinking that I have really bad aerophagia from the cpap. I've made a lot of eating changes, which helps a little, but I was wondering for those of you who get aerophagia pretty bad, does it ever give you irregular heartbeats? I do know that not everyone feels those beats (my husband), but I feel absolutely every one, unfortunately. Just curious if it happens to anyone else who tends to have aerophagia from their cpap. I've wondered if it would help to change to a full face mask??
Next question.......It's been a long time since I've changed my own pressure and I'm wondering if it's just too high these days and would like to go down just a little bit. Can you remind me how to do that?

I had all these questions for my cpap doc........who only sees me once a year. This year I had an appointment scheduled recently (had it for a whole year), and they rescheduled. Then they rescheduled that appointment. Then, on the morning of my 3rd rescehdule they cancelled and said he was sick. So.......I'm looking for another doc. All these problems get really old.
Thanks for listening.

I did a little googling and saw articles associating arrhythmia with one or more of GERD, aerophagia, and burping. So you might be onto something. I recommend that you discuss this with your regular doctor; no need to see a sleep doctor.

Do you have information about your AHI levels? I think you'd need access to information before you started changing your pressures. You need some way to know whether you're making your AHI a lot worse.

@country4ever; I see you had an S9 Autoset, but the forum equipment link is broken.
If this is your current machine, could you enter that into your signature, please?
We do that on our profile page,
That information is necessary in order to help you without digging into your old posts.

Thanks Miss Emerita and Chunkyfrog. Sorry I went MIA. I did figure out how to change the pressure. I will try to post my equipment. Thanks again.
