Breeze Question

Post by Snoozie » Sat Jan 14, 2006 3:00 pm

I saw a comment in another post about the Breeze and didn't want to steal the post, so I will ask separately.

When my DME was at my house, I showed him my Aura and he liked it, and said they don't carry it, but they do carry the Breeze, which he personally has himself.

Well, I have gotten used to the Aura a LOT and since he doesn't carry it, was wondering if the Breeze is at least comparable. The hose going down the back doesn't really matter as I never sleep on my back. But is it just as comfortable otherwise, and does it hold as good a seal?

Also, has anyone ever gotten their DME's to carry a mask that they have tried? While the Swift is ok, I really like the Aura a lot more now and don't think I want to reorder a Swift. My DME said that they just ship new pillows automatically every 3 months, so I want to catch him before they are shipped.

Thanks,
Maggie

Snoozie, most DME's are not aware of the Aura (it's official name is "Headrest with nasal seal") because Aeiomed is a fairly new company. Most DME's probably aren't even aware of the company itself.

Any DME worth its salt, however, should be willing to order the Aura for you, but most probably will balk at doing a special order. They'd probably rather buy only from the large companies they're familiar with, and from whom they probably get price breaks for buying in quantity.

I happily used the Breeze for a long time before I switched (even more happily) to the Aura. Breeze is good. It's a shame that the ad pictures of the Breeze always show the connector hose going down the back of the head...makes it look like that's the way the hose has to go, but not so.

If you hang the main air hose up on the headboard or wall, the connector hose from the Breeze also will be directed upward -- starting up from a spot near the center of the top of your head. However, IF a person likes to sleep on their back, the backpad of the headgear tends to make the whole Breeze headgear either tug upwards on your nostrils or push downward causing leakiness. Breeze is great for sleeping on your side and turning from side to side. It's not as good for sleeping on one's back - but not because of the connector hose, which doesn't have to be under you at all.

The Breeze is good, but the Aura is the very best, imho, for sleeping in any position. Aura has the most comfy feeling nasal pillows at the nostrils. It's worth begging, cajoling, being firm, stomping your foot, or whatever it takes, to convince the DME to order you the Aura. Especially since you've already used the Aura and you know you like it. A mask which suits that well is a treasure!

DME's and the Aura/Headrest

Post by Jerry69 » Sat Jan 14, 2006 7:08 pm

My DME said he would get me an Aura/Headrest. When it didn't show up for 2 weeks I called them. They said they had applied for an account. As RG said, seems that DME's haven't connected with Aeiomed.

I bought one directly from CPAP.com...because I'm impulsive, I suppose, and I ordered the X-Large nasal seal from another company. After using the X-large seal for a few nights, I'm not convinced I needed it, but I'll try it again tonight. I had a restless night last night and my wife said I was leaking and Encore Pro confirmed it. Also, some mouth breathing, which I can usually avoid. We all have a bad night from time to time.

Jerry

I just can't stay logged on long enough to post!

Anyway...Thanks RG and Jerry for responding. I am going to talk to my DME and see if they can order at least replacement parts for my Aura (Headrest), since I really haven't been using the Swift as often. If it doesn't work, I guess I will try the Breeze, which doesn't sound too bad.

Jerry, I also bought mine out of pocket from CPAP.com and glad I did. I do not feel like it was wasted money by any means, and will continue to get replacement nasal seals from them unless my DME will furnish them.

Do you all suppose that if I give Aeiomed my DME's number or send them a business card, they will have a sales rep contact them? Was thinking that may work better. Thinking out loud, I am going to send them an e-mail with my DME's phone number and see how it goes! Never hurts to ask!

Thanks again,
Maggie

I even gave my DME a printout of the Aura. He said I could demo it if he got one... Its been over a month now.

Until I can try out an Aura I'll stay with my Breeze. I tweaked it a little so it holds its position better and reduced the vent noise.

If you can afford it get what works for you somehow. Otherwise, a Breeze may not be to big a change for you.
