Sleepless on LI approaches 3000 posts!

To Carley: I love the lil white kitty by your name! I just noticed it. I am also a cat person. I have just this year (for the first time in all my 60 years of being a cat person) became surrogate mother to 4 kittens who lost their mom 2 days after birth. 'twas a job, but most rewarding!

I love kitties, too. I am posting a picture of the three we have adopted that were orphaned and would have been euthanized. The picture is not a current one as they are all grown now, but we find it difficult to capture all three at the same time in a good pose. The oldest one is Happy who was orphaned at 3 wks and is now almost 12. We adopted him when we lived in Huntsville, AL. The other two are almost six years old and we adopted them when we lived near Atlanta, GA when they were approx. 6 wks. old. The grey one is named Rebel and the white one is Frosty who now has a peachy tipped coloring to the white and has beautiful blue eyes. We raised 4 children and now enjoy having the kitties to keep us entertained.

Kitties are like people in the fact there are no carbon copies--they are each so different in their temperments and personalities.

Amen to that! I guess this topic doesn't have much to do with sleep apnea except for the fact kitties do sleep a lot, but I haven't heard of any research going on with them to determine if they ever have OSA.

I don't think my Buster has OSA, although he does seem to wake up quite often during his sleep. However, I've never heard him snore, unless you consider excessive purring and rumbling snoring. Maybe! Who knows?

I used to have his photo sleeping on my window sill, front paw outstretched, as my Avatar before the real faces idea from R&R emerged. Maybe it's time to put it back up? Seems to be a trend again.

Thanks for posting your precious kitties. I just love cats. People who say cats aren't affectionate don't know or haven't had one.

Your posts are more than most people contribute but these posts are all from the heart & dominantly helpful (est 99%). Lori, we know this is you & in balance I will say (IMHO) makes this place brighter. If you want a therapy class re the volume of your posts, we (well speaking for me) volunteer as recipients & you can post as much as you like as long as it is helpful & community minded (& I haven't seen anything from you that isn't - except when defending yourself).

I promise I will PM you directly if your contributions fail to offer benefit to the multitude of newbies & lurkers who learn so much from your concerted efforts.

Lori! I don't know how you do it! I joined about the same time as you and have only managed a few posts in comparison - you really are the posting star!

I like the cat photos ... and while talking about pets, we are dog sitting for a week and have a rather over-weight boarder terrier to look after. And guess what? She snores - loudly! DO you think dogs can have OSA?

No, we don't have to play follow the leader. We have new members all the time and they will. Lets keep the pictures of ourselves if we want to see them. Wader has never liked his picture on the internet.

Sir C, I have to say, we don't hear from you enough. I miss you! You always bring your own certain air of humour to this site and I miss that. Glad to hear from you again.

R&R, I won't be changing mine just yet, unless I can find a BETTER photo than the sourpuss one I put up. But, like I said, that was pre-therapy/diagnosis. Most of my photos would look like that. Since I have almost lost my 20 lbs., I would LOVE to take a new one that may look better. If you could see the bags under my eyes in the original photo...I thought about posting it here so you could really see a tired woman. Then I rethought it.

Severeena, send me the photo and I'll be happy to post it in this thread for you. We're talking kitties, right???

You can't see it on the photo of my cat, but she has a long and expressive fluffy tail, like most cats. And it's sort of black. And at times it is poised in what looks like a question mark. You cat lovers recognize that one. Here's my quickie poem to my cat:

The Cat with the Questioning Tail

She cocks her head and looks at me
Lets out a mew, but I still can’t see
What she wants I simply can’t tell
Until she walks up to me with that questioning tail

If I could figure out how to post a picture of my little Kiki I would. She is a sable colored burmese that only weighs 6 lbs. I have never considered myself a cat person, until we go her 4 years ago. Burmese are very social and talk ALOT. they love everyone and anyone who will pay attention to them.

She leeps with me, under the covers, at night and if I am traveling, she cuddles up with my hubby. The silly little beast also has her daytime bed ontop of my computer under her lamp. In the mornings while my daughter is getting ready for school she sits on her stereo and watches her get ready. She also will keep her company while she is doing her homework.

Can't imagine live with out my second child!
