Low Pressure

Post by Hutzy86 » Mon Sep 11, 2023 7:24 pm

Has anyone found great results with low pressure and positional therapy? My sleep specialist wanted me on a static pressure of 11, did that ahi was at 11 constantly. Now I've dropped it right back to 7 and am having nights ranging from 1.5 - 5 ahi. Almost completely eliminated OSA events and my central's are usually just post arousal in nature. My original sleep study showed an ahi if 35! Before and after numbers attached

If by positional therapy, you mean sleeping on your sides or stomach as opposed to the back, absolutely yes. Personally, my 95% pressure on my sides is about 7.6, and on my back, about 10.8.

On the back, gravity is directly pulling the tongue and soft palate into the airway. On the sides, the pull is at a right angle.

Yeah I've found I can lower my pressure drastically if I'm on my side, when I studied my data, my high pressure of around 11 was causing a whole bunch on central apnoea's. Even the centrals I get now appear to be after an arousal as breathing is looking much more consistent.

It looks like you have a handle on your therapy that your provider cannot grasp.
Good for you!
