Oscar help / are these "artifacts", am I half robot?!

Post by Mishehu » Thu May 25, 2023 1:15 pm

I'm a new user, but I've been lurking for about a month and a half... thanks for any help you can provide.

I have a lot of questions (and please bear with me because I'm exhausted), but I think maybe I should just let the images of my first question (this is just last night) speak for themselves.

data -
This is wearing an n20 for her - airtouch.
I have similar charts on different nights wearing a p10 for her XS. (I also have the airfit n20 and brevida xs/s - it doesn't seem to matter what mask I'm wearing).

I mouth tape (and wake up still wearing the tape).
Machine is Resmed 10 apap (I started CPAP about 75 days ago - prior to that I was wearing a MAD device).

I can provide the full charts if you'd like to see them as well - but they really have this many nights.

Thank you for any help you can provide. most "nights" i'm sleeping 8-12 hours, and I always wake up more tired than when I went to bed.

I hope I didn't mess up the images, or anything else.... - I haven't been on a BB/forum in ages.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply, are you referring to the fact that these are links instead of images hosted on cpaptalk? Because I tried to upload them as images and it wouldn't let me do it. The first time it said the storage was full, the second image I tried - it just said "unavailable". I just tried again with three different images and it said "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached."

No, I don't care about links vs embedded images but I do care about the image itself and the graphs shown.

Need to look sort of like this and not zoomed in on a little segment.

Need the stuff on the left as shown and on the right side graphs...these graphs
Events
Flow rate
Pressure (not mask pressure)
Flow limitations
Snores only if very active...I didn't include here because I never have snores.

(don't snore either.) Thank you for explaining!

Image This is on n20 airtouch.

Image on the p10 for her.

Does this work? (thank you).

That's better.
Turn off the pie chart please on further images.
Make sure on the left side that you have the AHI and breakdown showing clearly. Look again at my example.

If you are taping your mouth and the tape isn't coming loose then those leaks are mask movement leaks.
Are those leaks waking you up?

Any special reason for using fixed cpap mode?

What is the "PC" line on the events graph?

Did you go in and set custom user flagging? Why?

Do you take any medications of any kind? If so, what?
Do you have any other physical or mental health issues going on?

I don't understand what you mean by wondering about artifacts or half robot. Can you clarify please?
Main complaints????? Fatigue, excessive sleepiness, etc???

No the leaks aren't waking me up - nothing wakes me up (I can't sleep unless I take something - I will stay awake for days otherwise - I don't really get sleepy enough and I am quite hyper in general (I do take ADHD medication) - so if I do manage to go to sleep I wake up in weird positions with bruises (I am a redhead, so who knows if this would occur otherwise - I have been told it is common for redheads to bruise so easily - by a redheaded doctor) and while I am asleep - I will answer the phones and carry on conversations, I am told sometimes I sit up and talk to people when I'm sleeping... When I wake up I can't figure out if it was a dream or not.
If I wait too long to sleep (3 days ish) and don't take anything, I do start sleepwalking, so I was given medicine so I'd sleep and not move around so much...

Any special reason for using fixed cpap mode?
blame lanky lefty for this. (I do try different modes every night - cpap and apap, soft and standard, epr and non... At this point I'm ok with trying different stuff.
What is the "PC" line on the events graph?
Pulse Change. Since I started using CPAP my pulse has been getting lower and lower.
Did you go in and set custom user flagging? Why?
curiosity mainly because I wasn't getting anywhere with the data I could see myself. and the ahi was so low I couldn't figure out what to do next..

Thank you

So what problem are you wanting to fix with all the changes you are making to the machine settings?

How did you get diagnosed? Home sleep study or one done in a lab setting? What was the diagnostic AHI?

Ahhh...Jason and his thoughts strike again.

Unless an experiment causes dire results and is a disaster we usually tell people to keep a machine setting change for one week...and make only one change at a time...for at LEAST a week to give the body a chance to adjust. There is some truth to the "give it time" thing.

The leaks may not be waking you up that you remember but they are big enough to cause an arousal that you may not remember.

But you are correct...the report itself is far from horrible and I see nothing that screams out "fix me and you will fill better".

Exactly what meds are you taking? Name, dosage, time, for how long???? Telling us you take a medication for ADHD and nothing else isn't all that helpful...lots of different meds out there that are used for ADHD both on label and off label.

Again....what is/are your main complaints that you wish you weren't experiencing???

I'm still exhausted no matter how many hours I sleep and I have a lot of questions but the first one/why I asked if I was half robot - is really about the weird blocky flow
Image

I'm not sure if having a completely set pressure would actually work for me because I have a condition that's kind of like really bad food allergies - so basically some days I'm having bad cough or am more stuffy nose than others.... and basically it also makes it hard to see if the clear airways are causing stomach wonkiness or maybe I accidentally ate something 🤷🏼‍♀️.

I have another night on the swift FX that looks the same to me (regarding that blocky flow bit). This one I was drooling even through the mouth taping - I double taped this night... and I woke up with bad aerophagia - so this one was def from CPAP and not from food. (I did realise the swift fx for her xs right pillow was too big, and the DME is sending me a new one to try that).
Thank you.

Have never seen that. Physiologically, I bet it is impossible. You might try reloading OSCAR.

That screen shot is so weird we can't really tell much about it plus part of it you are in large leak but you have cut off the leak graph so we can't tell how bad the leak is.
9:22 to 9:32....I have no idea what caused all that mess....and the event type labels can't be seen on the flow rate graph...which is zoomed out a little too much.
To examine flow rate or breathing optimally you need maybe a 5 minute window and not the 30 minute window.

Maybe you could use SleepHq and post the full detailed report (don't zoom in on anything) as SleepHq will actually let people do their own zooming in.
SleepHq had both a paid for version and a free version....don't go paying for it.

I take (Brand) ritalin ahem ...20mg 5xday and strattera 80 (it might be 100? AM) and Deplin ( used for adhd with a MTHFR gene mutation - who knows?! the testing said I was low.. I do see a specialist for the ADHD - He is the one that suggested that maybe I am able to move during REM, and to go see a sleep doctor).. ... I was genetic tested to find the best combo, I'm an ultra rapid metaboliser .. I've been on both together for a long time. I've had sleep issues before I was diagnosed though.

2 home studies and one lab study. The last was home and most recent but not as thorough

I can't read these, I have no clue how to read the stages part - It looks like that description is missing.

The lab study said I didn't have any REM stage.

I wore a MAD to all these studies. Since switching to CPAP I have been wearing a boil and bite instead - precautionary (the MAD makes me drool and I can't close my mouth fully to get a good tape seal) . the lab study (2-5 years ago) with the MAD was ahi 5.9.

Thank you!

Sure thing! Thank you, https://sleephq.com/public/2c7b748d-46a ... 61a122f645

I don't know if it's my machine or Oscar or what, because I switched SD cards because the first one had missing data for portions of the night that I wasn't sure was me or the card...

Thank you, it was really freaking me out. I did switch cards because I had similar bizarre kinds of data with the older card (not the exact same thing but just looked like dashes for parts of the night instead of full....).
