CPAP making a popping sound

Post by RyanH1015 » Mon Nov 21, 2022 11:25 am

Hi, my Resmed Air Curve 10 that I've had since June of 2019 has recently started making a popping sound. It usually occurs once every time I exhale and once every time I inhale. The machine was covered under Medicare but my provider told me I will have to cover any cost of repairs as the machine is no longer under warranty. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar issue and knows of a possible fix for the machine. The machine still works perfectly, mask and tubing etc. have all been replaced with no change to the popping sound. Thanks

Any chance there is a little bit of water in the mask or hose?

I replaced the hose with a brand new one and the problem remained so that doesn't appear to be the issue.

Rainout = water collecting in the hose from your breath and / or the humidifier.
Can happen in a new hose / mask just as it can in an old one.

Nothing wrong with the machine..popping comes from condensation in the hose. Cool room and warm air in the hose causes condensation...Even a little water in the hose will cause popping. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctw73sdPU6k

Thank you all, I have never heard of rainout before but I believe you are correct. I can implement some solutions now that I know what the issue is. Much appreciated!

. . . And a hearty boot to the head for your beyond useless "provider."
