SleepHQ--Any New Constructive Suggestions for Them?

Post by lazarus » Sat Nov 19, 2022 1:53 pm

I consider myself an average Joe who was able to optimize my PAP well enough using the data provided on-screen by my ResMed APAP along with the insights provide by knowledgeable, educated, experienced, helpful posters in this forum. I have never loaded OSCAR or signed in to SleepHQ. But if I ever experience issues, I might use one or both to seek help here one day.

Although it appears that SleepHQ is not interested in competing with, eclipsing, or diminishing OSCAR in any way, some coming to this forum to seek help are using SleepHQ and apparently are receiving some good help by means of it. And if SleepHQ starts making actual money, it stands to reason it will have an ad budget that may increase its popularity to the point that we'll be seeing much more of it in the future. Hey, stranger things have happened.

So my question is, if they're gonna be around (I mean, assuming they ain't the next Theranos or something  ), what constructive suggestions do you have for them? What is important to you for your own use or for using it to help others?

For example, based on one recent thread, a constructive suggestion might be: "If you can't provide decent-resolution, accurate data under a heading, please just remove that heading, instead of making people think useful data is there."

Even if no one associated with SleepHQ ever reads this thread, your observations can still be helpful to average Joes like me when it comes time for us to decide which software to use. Or continue to post in the other thread or keep creating threads for each issue if you prefer. I ain't no mod. I just thought having a new broader thread might be helpful to some of us.

I don't plan on guiding the thread; I hope to learn from whatever others post. And maybe, just maybe, it will give SleepHQ people a central place to look during this crucial time for them.

thank you for starting this thread. while nothing comes to mind currently, will keep it in mind.

i do hope that this thread doesn't get derailed and we actually see some constructive ideas brought forth.
people say i'm self absorbed.

More importantly, why doesn't he anonymize the whois info like everyone else does these days? Does he actually WANT spam?

John Galt - rt wing character in Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged " in the '60's...begins with (if I haven't forgotten) "Who is John Galt'.

She also wrote The Fountainhead - see old movie with Gary Cooper as architect...

Applauding your effort, here and hoping that it will be taken seriously.

I am not a user of SleepHQ, more by chance (and familiarity) rather than choice .

I don't know where or how SleepHQ should advise on the use and application of their software, but perhaps some sort of advisement to the effect of some raw source data may be smoothed in the graphs. if that is a concern then then the user should seek a professional to read the raw source data to detect and evaluate at maximum resolution.

I am assuming that the each of the raw data channels (mask pressure, and flowrate) are transmitted at lower granularity (resolution if you will). but all the other data channels,(events etc) are transmitted exactly as observed by the cpap device. (a fact that I don't know to be completely true)

So my suggestion to SleepHQ is be completely upfront, if convenience to the user requires transmission at lower resolution, just say so. If that is a significant problem (lower res transmission) to the user then maybe SleepHQ is not appropriate for that user.

None.

I prefer interacting with Average Joe or Jane when they come here with their data.

sleepHQ is an evolving platform - if they responded to feedback, posts here would become quickly outdated, or confusing to the AJ's (and others as well).

And if they didn't I'm afraid this thread could become another brawl...

OK, -- the following arrived as I was composing my response.

My suggestion to SleepHQ is: be completely upfront about everything.

This frog only used Sleepyhead briefly.
I have never used Oscar or Sleephq; but refer to the sleep report on screen daily--
--even when in the hospital; since the first month, 13 years ago.
If only takes a few minutes, and I have a nice notebook to show my doctor.
If Sleephq can be the handy-dandy first choice for newbies, so be it;
but it needs to be accessible to as many as possible.
