which mask out of this two?

Post by bananas85 » Tue Sep 20, 2022 1:28 pm

I am trying to find a mask where the hose connects at the top rather than in the front. I turn a lot in my sleep and I feel like the top hose connectil will be better. Which one of these are better ?

Apologies that I can not give you a comparison as I have only tried the N30i. I found it very comfortable except for the pressure at my temples and an angry TMJ. It was very easy to disconnect the hose from above the head when you wanted to go to the bathroom so you didn’t have to takeoff the mask and then try to fiddle around half asleep and put it back on.

I will say this though- whichever you decide to go with I highly recommend a hose management system. Even though it’s over your head you still have to be able to roll over and it will tug on the hose.

I really like this one and I have it myself.

There’s many to choose from online if that doesn’t suit you. Many connect to a frame that goes between the mattress and the boxspring. I like this because it attaches right to my end table next to my pop machine it’s really easy to take on and off of the stretchy rubber holds the hose over my head. You can attach to a headboard also. Because I have a foam mattress I don’t think the one that goes in between the mattress and box spring would be ideal if you have a bed like that.

Sorry I couldn’t be of more assistance.

I always lean toward Resmed--better quality.

I didn't care for the dream wear all that much. It tangled in my hair and made Darth Vader noises. I have recently hung a command hook on my headboard for my hose and that seems to do well to keep me from getting wrapped up in the hose.

I now keep command strips and hooks in the travel bag. I also have a large twist tie to attach to command with a scrunchie to hold the hose up.

Those hooks are a great suggestion and if nothing else give you the opportunity to decide if you like a hose management system before investing in anything else.

If you get the command strips with wire hooks you can bend (crimp) the wire hook to hold the scrunchie. It keeps the hose from falling down.

Thanks. Those look cool but the hook is perpendicular to the wall and the scrunchie will then be parallel to the wall and the hose can not hang freely.

That extra twist tie in there allows scrunchie to hang freely while supporting the hose.

Thats why you crimp the hook- pinch it to hold the scrunchie which hangs down holding the hose. I guess you'd have to see it but the hose never touches the hook.

TheLankyLefty27 (or someone with a very similar user name) has extensively reviewed both the Dreamwear Nasal and the new and improved ResMed AirFit N30i masks on youtube.com. Highly recommend his video reviews. He does state his biases when they come up so that you can weigh those as well.

Oh, by the way, here's the tubing holder that I've been using for the last 10 years:

It's gone up some in price, but then what hasn't? Great for travel, fits in the travel case that comes with my ResMed CPAP...I have 2, one for home, one for travel.

Back in the day I used an old - need I say washed? - shoelace between the hook and the scrunchie.

I did something similar when traveling one time. For some reason I think it was yarn or something we had when I couldn't stick anything on the wall (no headboard) so I drapped the string or yarn from a picture hanging on the wall. So yea, use what ya got.

The thing I do like about the Command Hooks is you can fit that and the scrunchie in a shirt pocket - meaning they take up no room when traveling.

I have stuck cheap duck tape to the fake headboards in chain motels;
and have never had trouble getting it off cleanly.

This is the command cord organizer.

This is what I find works best. No scrunchies or modifications needed.

Oooooooo......THIS makes me VERY excited!

Thanks!

Edit: I am not near my home to measure but I assume the 1" soft circular hook is large enough to accommodate the cpap hose?
