First Time Autoset User Finding Pressure Max Every Night
First Time Autoset User Finding Pressure Max Every Night
Got the Autosense 10 a few days ago with the help of CPAP.com. I didn’t know any better and my old machine and had a constant CPAP setting of 7 from 2014. I am finding having never used autoset that every night I have increased the max pressure and every night it shows the “95%“ is within a .1 or so of the max pressure.
First night it was set at 11, second night 13 and last night 15. Should I just go ahead and set it at 20 and let it maxed out? Am I missing something? I just find it mystifying that as I increase the pressure it always reaches it 95% of the time. I have kept the minimum at 7.

Re: First Time Autoset User Finding Pressure Max Every Night
Post graphs.
You describing what you believe to be happening simply doesn't provide detail to make informed decisions.
For what it's worth, a lot of us set the machine max pressure to the machine max. The thought process being the machine isn't handcuffed and can go where it needs to be.

Re: First Time Autoset User Finding Pressure Max Every Night
Is your machine set to CPAP, or to AUTOSET?
The CPAP setting is a constant pressure, while the AUTOSET is a fluctuating pressure.
Personally I would set my SETTINGS:
7 min to 20 max
if needed, EPR to full time at level 3

pls read that again. op says autoset with a minimum of 7 which he has kept while raising the max.Iamstumped wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 10:26 amIs your machine set to CPAP, or to AUTOSET?

Re: First Time Autoset User Finding Pressure Max Every Night
I do note my AHI is always below 3…and usually below 2. I sure hope setting the max at 20 doesn’t come back at 19.9 tomorrow morning.
With my renewed interest in better quality sleep with the new machine I found out the CPAP Shop HQ is only about 45 minutes away, so I went there yesterday and bought a new mask… F20 airtouch. OMG the fit is so much more comfortable and the seal is better, yet my pressure needed was higher. My old mask was old…the newer version I guess is Amara style. The “leak rate” went from around 10 down to 3.6 last night.
With the new machine the past three nights I haven’t needed a single nap during the day, so maybe I’ve needed the higher pressure all along or at least for some time now.

nope. you questioned if he was on cpap or autoset, when he plainly posted autoset. min pressure of 7 and then he uses ever increasing maximum.

that's a good sign. we'd know for sure if you posted some oscar charts, though.
good luck!

No, you are not in agreement.
He said his *OLD* device was set to CPAP mode. This implies a new device.
He then mentioned setting and adjusting minimum and maximum pressures.
Next time when you reread it, apply some critical thinking and context.

I will have to look into that software. I downloaded something from Resmed and there’s this Australian fella who has a YouTube channel and website called SleepHQ and I uploaded the data card info.

The experts here work with OSCAR. Sleep hq does not have as much detail. No charts = guesswork.

take a look at the bottom of the posts from user iamstumped. he has links for the oscar software and links for hints on what the forum would like to see. when you are ready, post the charts right here, in this thread. if you have any difficulty, we can help.
oh and btw? when you get a moment, would you fill out your equipment in your profile? once you do that, it will appear at the bottom of each of your posts, as mine does below.
good luck!

I guess a bigger issue after thinking about it, what happens tonight if I set max pressure at 20 and in the morning the 95% is 19.9? Then what do you do? How can you increase the pressure beyond 20? I’ll give everyone an update tomorrow morning.
