Maybe the FDA changed a word in their original paper, or they needed to write something to confirm the need for their paycheck. Or maybe it's for people that are late to the Party. Jim

So, the FDA is still allowing P/R to replace the recalled units
with newer, INFERIOR equipment, even though the best solution
would be to issue REFUNDS.
Bribe money well spent!

I received an email today with the below link.
Mostly it talked about registration (if you haven't yet done so) and talking with your doc about whether or not to continue using your device.

If people are lucky Sept 2022 which I privately doubted that goal date and that was before this latest monkey wrench thrown in with the FDA wanting more information about the "new silicone" foam being put in DS2 and refurbished machines.
My crystal ball says this fiasco will likely go into 2023 and that doesn't even take into consideration the bilevel models that Philips hasn't even begun to replace/fix because they aren't even making bilevel DS 2 models yet. I predict it will be a long time before they are able to produce the bilevels. I hope I am wrong.

Maybe another company will step up to the plate.
Leave P/R in their own crumbled, toxic foam--exactly where they belong!
Devillbiss makes decent, machines, that run on AC or DC.
There are others.
No reason we cannot have CHOICES.

i'm sitting here in good shape and will continue to be without regard to WHAT these jack holes do. i feel sorry for the tons of folk who now find themselves without a machine and decreasing chances (every day) of getting SOMEthing out of this.
have never been even tangentially connected to any product recall before. so i don't even know if this is just how things generally go or if philips is messing this up.

Technician predicts recall of DS2 machines!
We've already had discussions of a potential safety issues with the new foam used in DS2 machines.
However, here is a sleep technician openly predicting a recall on the DS2 machines.
If this happens, I can't see Philips staying remaining in this business long-term!

There are others, eg Fisher & Paykel, Lowenstein, etc. But I predict the market will be swamped with low cost Chinese machines such as BMC Luna etc. I can't see Philips remaining a major player after this, especially as word of their long-term cover up gets out. Philips' share price dropped by 11% overnight when the latest results were announced.

yeah, i predict we are going to see more and more users here with those "low cost" machines pretty soon now.Respirator99 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 8:32 pmDeVilbiss have ceased making CPAP machines: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXw3UwmHPc8chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 7:35 pmMaybe another company will step up to the plate.

i hate to see it. and i hope this plays out well for all involved.
that is, the users. not philips. THEY can go to hell.

Re: FDA Update: Certain Philips Respironics Ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP Machines Recalled Due to Potential Health Risks
What's really devastating is the impact on ventilator dependent patients, who essentially have no choice but to continue to use their devices. The Trilogy 100, except for the foam issue, has been an excellent portable ventilator that is simple to use and versatile.
The newer Trilogy Evo feels like a piece of junk in comparison, and apparently the new "silicone based foam" on these newer machines has failed VOC testing.
While I want PR to pay for their sins, in the end it's the patients who actually suffer. PR going out of business isn't going to get people a new device.

Re: FDA Update: Certain Philips Respironics Ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP Machines Recalled Due to Potential Health Risks
The solution here is to punish the individuals responsible, and put all of Philips (or just that division) under court supervision.
The company is guilty of multiple felonies and should be put on "probation."

The real challenge is getting safe therapy to those who most need it--ASAP!!!
Individuals are definitely responsible--they need to be identified, and LOCKED UP.
