I don't believe that I am biting my tongue because there is no bleeding.
I have bitten my tongue many times, and there was no bleeding.

It must be something else, like food, or maybe a nutrient deficiency or an allergy,
It's faddish to blame those things.

Two suggestions:

1) Try a mouth guard. That would protect your tongue from your teeth.

2) Look up oil pulling. It may sound like new age woo woo, but I have found that it really helps whenever I have a mouth sore. If my toothbrush slips or I bite my lip I get painful mouth sores and oil pulling with coconut oil gives me immediate relief and quick healing. I don't buy into this substituting for tooth brushing or anything like that. And it's sort of gross and hard to do. But my personal experience is that oil pulling is very helpful for mouth sores.

Rough tooth surfaces often irritate my tongue.
Sometimes brushing is not enough.
Time to get those dirty puppies cleaned!

Thanks everyone for your answers and advice. I have determined the cause of the mouth sores and you'll all be relieved to know that it's not the CPAP machine. I needed to eliminate the CPAP machine to figure out the cause. I also have a medical appointment to find out more and find out what can be done.

We knew it wasn't CPAP from the start, CPAP doesn't do that kind of thing.

You have solved one problem, well done! But, about getting rid of the mouth sores quickly; I remember a WebMD article saying regular use of a mouthwash that contains Hydrogen Peroxide should clear up mouth sores in a couple of days. Hopefully, your doctor will recommend something as effective.

Nope!

Some people use hydrogen peroxide because it is an antiseptic. It does nothing to heal mouth sores.

I occasionally get sore spots on the top of my tongue. CPAP.dries out mouth quite a bit sometimes even with the humidity turned all the way up. It feels chapped almost.

Maybe thrush?
It is a common after-effect of antibiotic use.
The bullfrog and I got thrush from garlic bread with loads of sliced, raw garlic.
(Garlic kills bacteria--sometimes a bit too much.)
His went away naturally, but mine was stubborn.
I bought a flavor of chewing gum we both like; and he chewed it first.
I got the cud next--and it killed the thrush.
Natural oral bacteria controls fungus.
My doctor was impressed--but a little grossed out.

Mouth-breathing is drying out your mouth.
