RESMED S10 CPAP hacked. Now a BIPAP!

Post by wozzlegummich » Sat Oct 09, 2021 6:05 pm

Has anyone used the Airbreak hack to turn their RESMED S10 CPAP into an Aircurve BIPAP?

I have a lot of problems with exhaling when using my CPAP and this seems a cost-effective way of sorting out my issues.

I just wondered what other people's experience was after hacking their machines.

when did this problem with exhale start? when you first got this machine or recently?

and why do you think a bipap would be better suited for you?

have you tried changing the settings on the current machine?

and so on and so forth.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Contrary to claims at airbreak.dev, modding the firmware does not fully enable the modes of higher end machines.

Not all the required settings fields are enabled. So it's not usable in specific modes.

For example, see https://github.com/osresearch/airbreak/issues/42

The project has been abandoned. The last update was back in 2020.

As to whether it is useable as an VAuto, maybe you can try it and report back??? MaxPressure didn't nor did Neo2020.
BUT ONLY on your spare backup machine, you shouldn't mess with your daily driver.

The main Airbreak thread: https://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t179 ... -hack.html?

Edit:
There is a recent report of VAUTO firmware working on the AutoSet.
https://www.reddit.com/r/UARS/comments/ ... h_success/

And I did find what I thought were counterfeit VAuto's per my last post on the main Airbreak thread.
But the problem is getting hold of the VAuto firmware.

Edit 2:

Per Gideon over at ApneaBoard, VAutos are now in black.

RE: Counterfeit Aircurve Vautos
information on ResMed
Dear Godeon

Here is the name I received from our ResMed rep:

"The AirCurve 11 units are not out yet. We have no eta on when they are going to come out, and I’ve not seen an image of them.
Some of the recent VAutos were made with a black shell recently. This was due to the lack of raw materials (plastics) to make the unit. However, it’s an AirCurve 10 VAuto all the same."

I hope this helps answer your query!

I mentioned this to my sleep doctor who contacted her ResMed rep an the above is the reply

It's not S10. It's AirSense 10.

I have a lot of problems with exhaling when using my CPAP
1. Are you using the exhalation relief feature?

2. Is this problem when you are awake or asleep? If it is when you are awake*, practicing relaxation techniques might solve the problem.

*How could you know it is when you are asleep? You're asleep. You don't know nuttin'.
