If you had a choice which one would you buy for a mouth breeder?
F.P. Simplus or ResMed Mirage Quattro
I had the Amara view and too hard to stop leaks

Thanks in advance for your time and patience

You must try both (and others) to see what works best for you, your face, etc. Just because something works for others does not mean it will work for you.

unfortunately, choosing the right mask that wil work for you is what i consider the hardest thing about cpap. folks can give you all kinds of good advice on how to adjust the pressures on your machine because that is based on facts.

a mask is more of a personal choice. what works for me may not work for thee. sometimes, you just have to go by trial and error.

take a look here and see what looks interesting to you-

https://www.cpap.com/category/cpap-masks

if something catches your eye, read a review or two.

btw, i'm not saying you have to buy from them. but it will give you some information that may help you make a choice.

bonne chance!

Hello to all and thanks for your time and patience
My appointment is due on Wednesday the 13th at 2:30 pm for the teetering test with the mask.
I have read a lot on this site most of what I have read is from page 3 to page 50 trying to get the most on Resmed S9 auto model 36005.
I have learn that you don't need to clean the accessories every day, to fill the water chamber to the maximum line every day with distilled water, only to wipe the mask daily with a lingette unscented.

Since I have powered on the machine to try a mask I noticed in Oscar that there were big leaks so I found a few post talking about it.
I have bought a new water chamber and a new heated tube and filters for the Resmed S9 on amazon and that has improve the leaking problem.

I know that many people are trying to do their best to help newbie like me and many more new users so I have read to try to find the problem and give a chance to the pro to help the others that are asking for the help.
I had the Amara view Mask medium size that was given to me by the guy who sold me the machine and I had a hard time to try to adjust it so I gave it away and I will buy the mask from the clinic that will setup my machine.

I had 2 choices offered by the clinic.
1 pay 95.00 we adjust and good bye.
or
2 pay 330.00 they adjust the machine and do a follow up for 1 month also they will find and give me the proper mask that will work for me. The 95.00 and the 1 month follow up is included in the deal. I will be able to change the mask for free within 1month to make sure I have the right one.
I think the 330.00 is the best choice for me since it help the clinic to survive in my area and I won't have to buy too many mask at 125.00 to 180.00 a piece on amazon to find the right one.
Since I am a mouth breather I am sure there isn't a ton of full face mask and I may hopefully find the right one within that 1 month period.

Once again thanks to you generous people at the CPAPTALK for your time ans patience.

Michel, I am also from Canada. I am a mouth breather when sleeping. I use a Fisher-Paykel nose mask and a chin strap. I got mine at the respiratory place where I bought my machine but I see that you can get them on amazon.ca. Good luck!

when you reply to this, see the tabs below; one says "Options" the other says "Attachments".

choose the "Attachments" tab and follow the instructions.

Michel - If you are not a mouth breather, why do you think a Full Face Mask (like Vitera or F30) is needed?. Those who have a deviated septum or who have nasal congestion full-time and breathe through their mouth of necessity -- these are the people who truly need FFM. Pillow masks have the least tendency to leak and are associated with the best compliance. Then comes nasal mask. Last in line is FFM. So as a group FFMs leak more and have the least compliance. If you absolutely must have it (see reasons above), then so be it. If not, I would recommend considering other options.

I am not an expert.

It looks like the f30 has less leaks then the f20
it's the reason why I posted the 2 captures with different mask

Also with the settings from the RESPIRATORY THERAPIST that you can see my Resmed S9 is like twisting and it makes noise (tic) when I inhale and another (tic) when I exhale. it does the same tic with both mask
I took some books and put them on the humidifier and I don't hear the tic anymore with the weight of the books.

Try a mouse pad under the humidifier (and machine itself).

Michel, somethings to consider as a new CPAP user from a fairly new CPAP user.

First, mask choice as Zonker said is highly a personal choice. For me as a fairly new CPAP user of 8+ months I use a Resmed F20 with no real issues. My AHI remains between 0.2 and 1.2 with extremely rare leaks. I keep trying nasal pillows (Resmed P10) and don't have any major issues but just find the F20 more comfortable. Finding the right tightness is a balancing act to avoid leaks, but it can be done. I suggest starting with some YouTube videos from TheLankyLefty27 to help get it setup properly. I can't comment on other masks as those are the only two I've tried so far.

For some fitting advice for the F20

https://youtu.be/9vcaEIMELKU

He is a funny bunny, but I find the advice and reviews helpful. Here is one where he reviews some full face masks.

https://youtu.be/-4jUtnTIFyM

Second, the folks on this board are the bee's knees for getting advice. I read a lot before even joining and venturing to post, and it make a real difference in my treatment. I still have occasional challenges, but I go back to searching the forum for similar problems and invariably find good advice. If that fails, I just ask the board members for help.

Third, don't be afraid to adjust your settings. Folks here are most helpful. You've already figured out how to post data from OSCAR which is key to getting good advice from them.

Best of luck and hang in there. It is frustrating at times but with the help of board members it will make a big difference in the quality of your sleep.
There is no right or wrong side of the road. There is only the road.
