AirMini cleaning and maintennce

Post by stueym » Tue Sep 07, 2021 3:26 pm

So having invested in a ResMed AirMini I am very happy with the device. This is intended as my business travel device leaving the AirSense 10 on the night stand at home.

Given that this means the AirMini will be unused for periods of time, do people have a routine for the cleaning, maintenance and swap out schedule for the components given that it will get occasional use rather than heavy nightly rotation?

I don't mind replacing components, but if they are not being subjected to the rigors of nightly use, do the replacement and cleaning/maintenance cycles have to be so intense?

What are peoples experience with travel devices like the AirMini?

Thanks in advance for sharing.

Which intense cleaning and maintenance are you talking about? I've used CPAP for over 10 years and never did any such thing - not even once. My previous machine was used nightly, including on trips, for 7 years without problems. It now serves as a backup machine.

(Mask parts that touch face get cleaned with alcohol swab every morning. Machine gets dusted when furniture is dusted.)

Make your own schedule--then follow it.
Or swap machines when the mood strikes you.

I have an AirMini that I use for travel.

Most of our trips are 2+ weeks so I generally change the filter after each. I don't bother after weekend trips, so the filter may be used for month or bit more. My mask is the Bleep, so that is changed daily. I am still using the original hose. I guess that is minimal maintenance? :)

The 'replacement schedule' is the same as with your bedside unit, When something no longer functions properly, there should never be a time based replacement for anything cpap related.

And the machine itself? just like your bedside unit, there's nothing to do but change the filter when it's dirty.

The air filter on mine requires changing g much more often than my 10, presumably because it's so much smaller. Pretty much after every trip.

You have no control over the crap that floats around hotel rooms,
so changing the filter after every trip is reasonable--IMHO
Otherwise, don't get crazy over it.
