Update:
My surgeon's office just called with a summary of the pathology.
I have lymphocyte rich classical Hodgkin's lymphoma "LRCHL".
The internet says it is rare, and one of the most curable, especially early.
Now I wait for my doctor's take on it--next week.
(After my incisions have time to heal.)

Well, it tuns out I have heart failure--probably had it a long time.
None of the classic symptoms, so my inept(?) PCP apparently had no idea . . .
I am pi$$ed; but am going low sodium, low h2o, etc.
Just a bump in the road.
I will have to combine low sodium with low carb--(should be interesting!)
I plan to challenge the dietician until I get some useful help.

the low sodium part isn't as tough as it sounds. or at least, that was my take on it. just be sure to add other spices to help "cover" the lack of salt.

you might want to look into penzys spices-

https://www.penzeys.com/

if you haven't used them already. i really like their Arizona Dreaming which is salt free. and they have other low sodium or salt free spices as well.

I actually prefer most things with less salt--
Nothing beats naked fresh carrots, or a freshly nuked yukon gold.
Plain popcorn tastes like . . . CORN--not bad at all.
And fresh tomato with basil instead of mineral--tasty!
I already use some unsalted butter--not hard to quit the salty stuff.
Everything canned is oozing with sodium, and decent beef needs no salt at all.

i'm preaching to the choir, i see. i should know from reading your past posts that you are smart enough to keep good care of yourself.

after curtailing sodium(and while i was still working) i spotted a young man in the breakroom who had brought a frozen dinner for his lunch. i checked the sodium content.

1,000 mg of sodium!!

i can't believe that this young man could've been ME and i would've thought nothing of it at his age.

I was ordered to weigh myself every morning, but I had to buy a new scale.
Both of the old ones were dead, so yesterday, we found a good replacement.
So, after about 3 days low NaCl and reduced H2O--
this morning I am 3 pounds down from last night.
I was told to call them if I GAINED 3 pounds--so, what now?
This must be good--I had to tighten my fanny pack--it was trying to fall off.
Hmm, I wonder how much of my "fat" is just water?
So far, this is more adventure than ordeal.
I'll take it as long as it holds out.

We've made our own beef and chicken broth for years to avoid the sodium in a can. Lol. If you have a pressure pot like instapot its a quick easy and tasty way to lower salt in things.

I bought NuSalt awhile back, and just tasted it.
Way better than I feared.
Maybe I'll try making homemade v8, or v5, or borscht.

I just visited with the surgeon's PA.
She gave me a lot of new information--reports from pathology
and findings from my echo. Nothing too disturbing.
I bitched about the long wait between finding the lump and diagnosis,
and she gave me a list of internists that might be able to
replace my managed care PCP.
One is my current endocrinologist. I might give him a call.

well, the "nothing too disturbing" sounds good.

and i'm hoping you have a good relationship with the endocrinologist?

My endo got me on CGM, and is totally impressed with my results.
