Excellent AHI but continued bad ODI...Interpretation?

Post by Allessio77 » Fri Jan 05, 2018 3:27 pm

After just having a string of good nights with low AHI (Under 0.6), I have to wonder why I am having such a poor ODI.
How should I interpret this? The number of events and desats has not changed much from when my AHI was averaging 3.0.

Last night I had a AHI of .27 with the following O2 results:

I have read here and elsewhere that GERD/Reflux can affect SpO2. I am not sure.
My experience was I was diagnosed with moderate OSA. The report said that my OSA couldn't account for my oxygen levels because they we're too low. As soon as I went to sleep it went under 90% and stayed there till I woke up.
My APAP improved the ODI a bit but it was still bad.
5 weeks after my diagnosis my ODI started to improve and kept improving over the next few months.
I am not sure what I did that made the improvements because I was doing everything I could think of.
I lost about 30 lbs in the first 2 months after diagnosis.
I actively treated my Gerd.
No dairy or wheat.
Exercising.
When my average SpO2 Level and ODI improved so did the way I felt.

Using weight loss, general exercise, and tongue/throat exercises I managed to get my AHI down to approx 5.
Not using a machine currently.
