Almost 1 week using but so tired from lack of sleep.
Almost 1 week using but so tired from lack of sleep.
I can't seem to breath when the machine wants me too...and if I finally think I am sleeping it makes a loud noise because of some leak and wakes me up if I was sleeping...help...I am so tired...and get so thirsty.

You are going to have to dig in and provide a lot more info before the good folks on here are able to help you. Fill out your profile with machine and mask-type. Be ready to share your machine settings including humidifier. Wouldn't hurt to hear how you got here either, reference sleep study results, diagnosis, etc.

If you want help, we'd need more information........like what are all the specific equipment and models of everything you're using, including the settings........and which mask, pressure and humidifier settings.Redwood Girl wrote:I can't seem to breath when the machine wants me too...and if I finally think I am sleeping it makes a loud noise because of some leak and wakes me up if I was sleeping...help...I am so tired...and get so thirsty.
I'm going to guess that you're using a nasal mask and are leaking your therapy air out your mouth.
If you have a data-capable machine, you should get the Sleepyhead software (it's free) and monitor your own therapy.

This is all common and will pass, I was beyond exhausted my first week, because it can take time to learn to sleep with it, as well as finding the best mask etc.. As Den say, join the forum, fill out your profile with your equipment, and people can help. Just as an example you describe being so thirsty, well that could mean you need to adjust the humidity on your machine so you don't have a dry mouth. But we need more info to help.Redwood Girl wrote:I can't seem to breath when the machine wants me too...and if I finally think I am sleeping it makes a loud noise because of some leak and wakes me up if I was sleeping...help...I am so tired...and get so thirsty.

It will improve...I had so much anxiety that I never thought it would work. When I finally slept 2 hours with it on(which is about max because of BPH anyway), I knew I could beat it. I tried a very low dose of melatonin(1 mg) and that helped some. If I was really uptight, I took a 3 mg.
I've been logging pretty good hours and sleeping in spurts and have been feeling pretty good. Last night, after a pit stop, I got back in the bed, but my head was hurting from the straps and faced itched. I feel asleep w/o the mask until about 5:30 this morning. Put it back on until 8 and when I got up, I felt like crap. I'm guessing that proves that sleeping with the mask on does help.
Not sure how to beat this strap pressure though. I went from a medium to a large and it helped some.
Hang in there...
