I live in Florida, where hurricane season can mean power outages that last for days after a storm. I found that the local power company has a program for people who have a medical device that requires power. They sent me a form for my doctor to fill out, and put me on a list of households that have an elevated status on the "power restoration" priority list. It may mean the difference between waiting many days and waiting only one or two.
