Hybrids not being made anymore?

Post by Maryb » Mon Sep 22, 2008 5:53 pm

My DME just told me that the company that makes the hybrid mask is going out of business and that they aren't going to be able to get the hybrid mask for me anymore.
Does anyone know anything about this?

Let me guess: This is just another poorly informed DME being unprofessional.

The DME may be confused by some recent changes in the distribution of the Hybrid mask. DMEs seem to be more confused than their cpap patients.

RespCare (Innomed Technologies) is the manufacturer of the Hybrid mask. Teleflex Medical was the distributor of the Hybrid mask under contract with RespCare. RespCare recently dropped Teleflex Medical and signed an distribution agreement with DeVilbiss Healthcare to distribute the Hybrid mask.

This move should help the sales of the Hybrid mask increase.

I would panic if this mask were ever discontinued.

DMEs!

Phew! Thanks Rooster!
I WAS IN A PANIC! The Hybrid is the only mask that I have been able to get to work.
When the DME told me this, I said "that's funny, I haven't heard anything on the CPAP boards about this". And the DME said, "what CPAP boards?"
I think you are right--my DME just doesn't know what is going on (once again).

I would be in a panic as well, buying up any I could find! Image

Obviously glad this is just a change in the distributor. This is the only mask that works for me.

Even if a DME isn't aware of "the boards", you'd think they read "Sleep Review" magazine.

The most recent issue had a big ad from DeVilbiss featuring their Intellipap machine. Three masks carried by DeVilbiss were also displayed in the ad. One of the masks was the Hybrid.

As rooster said, DeVilbiss has the distributor rights to the Hybrid.

I just met with my Devilbiss representative. She wanted me to buy more products and specifically mentioned the Hybrid, which is selling well. They have no plans to end production.

I had no idea Innomed made the Hybrid too. Jeez, what kinda Ph.d do I need to keep all these manufacturers straight? I think I ned an Org chart mating masks to manufacturers to distributors.

LOL,
