airway resistance due to tracheostomy

Post by Sparkie_Kerri » Sat Apr 22, 2023 10:00 pm

Hello. I'm on bipap therapy, pressure of 21 over 11. I've had the pressure raised as high as 24 over 12 due to higher than noral AHI. the readings range from 7 to 15 so the pressure was lowered back to 21 over 11 last week but the apneas are still around 7.4 per hour with low mask leak. I have a Tracheostomy which I've had since 1986 to treat my obstructive sleep apnea but due to the company no longer manufacturing it, I have to have it removed, hence bipap. Can it be ausing any resistance? I keep it capped at all times but it's the only reason I can think of why my increased events, none of which are central. thanks for any help you can provide this *very tired lady.
