Dreamwear mask noise...

Post by navbill » Thu Feb 02, 2023 5:14 pm

With the Respironics Dreamwear mask (nasal and FF) if the frame is crimped partially sometimes an audible air turbulence noise
is made. This can disturb your sleep. Does anyone have a work around or solution to this other than to not sleep on your side?

I sleep on my side with this mask all the time and don't notice the noise. However, I usually use some white noise using sleep phones--a habit I got into when I had my first, fairly noisy machine. But I don't hear it even when not using the white noise.

I have heard others complain of the noise though--there's a thread on it somewhere.

Make sure that the two vents aren't obstructed because they make a lot of noise, particularly the one under the nose. The one on top, not so much.

You might also try a different pillow--some conduct noise more easily than others.

I use a Dreamwear FFM. I sleep on my side. Occasionally the air entering mask cushion is "loud" (air pressure increases a little). Sometimes I hear what you called turbulence in the frame. Sometimes the machine is louder. None of those bother me but it bothers my wife.
