The odds of your having narcolepsy are probably like mine were for winning the recent MegaMillions lottery.
It stands more chance of snowing here in SW Missouri today...
It's brutal the heat we are having this week.

But...the only way to get that thought out of your head is to test for it and it needs to be done so you can move on from that thought....one way or another.

I got 3 hours of sleep last night. A friend sent me a text message which woke me up at 2:17 this morning and then I just couldn't get back to sleep. I am having my own stressful problems with my own mom so my brain decided to go 90 mph and wouldn't let me get back to sleep. Bad thing....this was the 4th or 5th night in a row with less than what I need, hours of sleep.
The friend is suitably sorry but I am looking for a voodoo doll to put his face on and start sticking pins in it.
He said he realized the time difference right after he hit send and wondered if it would be a problem. Well it was.

Your doctor is correct about the fatigue vs sleepiness thing. People have a hard time figuring it out.
Fatigue isn't the same as wanting to take a nap. Now they can go hand in hand but that doesn't mean that they are the same thing....
And when we add in the stress of worrying about people we care about along with potential depression symptoms it gets even more confusing. I would say "been there and done that" but in all honesty I am right in the middle of it right now.
So frustrating and I know exactly what the problem is but fixing it eludes me. Sometimes our brains just won't listen to us and do what we say. I know mine didn't after I turned off the alert from the text messages and tried to go back to sleep.
And for the people who tell me "just turn off the alerts"....I forgot for one thing and the other is I hate to block alerts since my mom isn't doing well. I worry she will have a turn for the worst and I am needed but wouldn't know it.

Your OSA is well treated. That's a 100% certainty but your sleep quality leaves a lot to be desired. Just something we are going to have to work on.

When are you going to have the narcolepsy test?

I am also worried because of the TInnitus I will always have sleep trouble. I have habituated so much and its not a problem during the day, but it could be at night.

I am sorry to vent. I have been feeling this way for over 16 months now. I need help

If I don't take my mirtazpine I won't sleep at night, with the ringing. So it seems I am screwed.
Maybe you can try "white noise".
Something like a fan, running in the background, a babbling brook, rain storm, ect, ect.
You can find "white noise" apps on Google play store, or the Apple app store, or even in your phone settings.
These "white noise" apps work for me, as I also have tinnitus, or ringing in the ears.

Thx mate! I will use the Resound app more. The T is no problem at the day. But I shouldn't try to tough it out at night. Use the tools that I need, right?

I turn the volume down low, just barely audible over the ringing in my ears.
In the silence of my bedroom, the tinnitus can be deafening.
I set my phone to play a "white noise" app for about 1 hour, at which time I am asleep.

Dang 3 hours. I don't think I could even get up!!!

Btw if you have an iPhone when you use Do Not Disturb I think you can allow just certain contacts through so that only the person you are worried about can contact you!. Pro tip. Not sure if the same on Android.

Oh I forgot to mention. I’m going to have the test in two weeks. I’m going to stay over in a swanky hospital. They actually really nice rooms lol. Feels like a hotel.

That laceration on my nose keeps opening every night. I’ve tried the large medium and small nasal attachment. Part of me thinks maybe I need to go to the full mask at this point. The cut just can’t and won’t heal up with the constant nose mask irritation.

SleepWeaver cloth masks are worth considering.

They press very very lightly on the skin.

I use the 3D when I have irritated skin due to the Nuance Pro mask.

@Pugsy - and other Android users:

The same is true for Android:
https://support.google.com/android/answ ... t-to-block
It's a life saver (sleep saver....) when you want to keep a 24 hour channel open for certain contacts and not let anyone else disturb you. It works whenever your "do not disturb is on"
Additionally, my Android phone lets me set up an automatic "do not disturb" schedule with separate definition for weekdays and weekends.
And "do not disturb" on a specific day at a specific time. Very useful.

Ok so I used a chinstrap last night to help with moutbreathing. I think it worked well.

I am very much looking forward to my sleep study. I still feel very lethargic and heavy. It was an interesting conversation yesterday with a sleep specialist. I only scored six on the Eppsworth sleeping scale. Before the CPAP I scored 12.

Trying to explain, in language, the difference between sleepiness and being tired and feeling heavy or lethargic, it is very microscopic. I don’t feel it’s normal how tired I am. But perhaps it really is years of sleep deprivation and depression.

She told me she was not of the mind of giving me any sort of stimulants. But I suppose I could also just have ADD, like I was diagnosed with as a child. Maybe I need some medication for that.

I am definitely frustrated. But I guess if the sleep study shows that I don’t have narcolepsy, maybe I could start exercising or doing other things to try to increase my dopamine and energy levels.

After being so convinced for a year, by a previous apparently idiot doctor, it’s hard for me to believe I don’t have narcolepsy. But she was very adamant that I don’t.

I’m sure nobody wants to waste 22 minutes of your life, but with her permission I recorded the session. I hope are represented myself and my symptoms well, and I feel that she understood. It was difficult to hear what she said, because of course I want some easy fix, but I also hope that I didn’t miss represent how tired I am and possibly miss a diagnosis.

PMA!

Embrace feeling pretty good!

Make sure you take care of the skin on your face so you don’t have problems like you did before.

Having discomfort when you’re trying to fall asleep whether it’s your face or a twisted ankle or a back pain-none of it is good for falling to sleep.

Good luck and keep it up!

Thank you! I am very pleased about today. I will keep that area clean! And yes, you are right, its very hard to sleep with pain. Hope you are doing well. How is your therapy going?

I like this chipper Billy.

I am doing well thank you. I just got a mask that I think it’s going to be the perfect fit for me and I can’t wait to go to sleep. Lol
