Air not coming through in large volume through tubing

Post by Jeffj318 » Mon Jun 27, 2022 9:24 pm

I usually turn on my wife's Resmed 10 machine and push mask fit to allow a large volume of air through the heated tube. All was working well until tonight when only a very minimal amount of air was coming through. The machine was purchased in February 2021. Any suggestions or comments?

  • Unplug it from the wall wait a miute or so, plug it back in.
  • Check to make sure all fitting are seated correctly and tight.
    • Humidifier
    • tube to machine
    • mask to tube
    • humidifier has gasket properly seated it
    • check for leaks
  • Try it on normal therapy mode
  • Check settings are correct in clinician mode

I tried everything that has been mentioned. Nothing happening. It is no biggie, I guess.
I was only using the mask fit option to blow a large volume of air through the tubing prior to my wife hooking up for sleep.
Everything else is working fine including her use of CPAP and the pressure she receives during sleep.

I tried it attaching the mask (no wife involved LOL) and it worked blowing more air and reading not a good mask fit.
It is back to working!

Have you used OSCAR to see what the pressures are trending now?
Maybe the mask fit feature no longer thinks it needs to use high pressures for mask fit because the machine just isn't going very high anymore?

Thanks, Pugs, for the input. I attached the mask minus my wife LOL and it worked blowing pressure through.
I took off the mask and now it is working again.

Hmmmm.... the only thing I can think of is that sometimes with the P10 the machine's auto sensors don't always work quite right. Like the auto on and auto off doesn't always do what it is supposed to at some pressures.
None of my ResMed machines have ever worked properly with the auto off part of SmartStart but works fine with the auto on part. Though I have heard of the auto on feature not working well for some people especially at lower pressures so much so that it is even mentioned in the manual.
Does the mask fit sensor thing maybe use same sort of sensor and maybe sometimes have a problem???? Not impossible I suppose.
At any rate when no for certain explanation for something weird happening is available we put the blame on my favorite culprits....aliens.
