Pugsy was correct, as always

Post by scf » Fri Jan 07, 2022 11:59 am

She helped me so much to get started and to understand OSCAR. She told me that all of my CA's were not true ones, but probably showing up because of tossing and turning due to back and neck pain. For four days I have been on prednisone, which of course is the best antiinflamatory. Here is a snapshot of before being on the drug and after four days. It is too bad that one cannot stay on it, but alas.

So you can see that my total AHI is meaningless. I have to look at other things to see how I am doing.

I am posting this for other newbies as information that might help if they think they have the same problem.

:D Your bill is in the mail.

Look to listening to your own body for how you are doing. It won't ever lie to you or mislead you like numbers might.
I wish cpap could fix all that ails us but it just can't no matter how much we might want it to and the various aches and pains we can get that mess with our sleep are just part of life that we have to deal with one way or the other....even if we didn't have OSA to deal with.

Keep trying the various options that will be available after the time with the steroids is over with. It's the best we can do given what we have available.

Trust me...been there and done that and tried a lot of things and I refuse to give up.
Like...what other choice do I have????

Good quality sleep is very fragile for sure but that doesn't mean we give up on trying to get it.
But we do have to accept the reality in life that not everything is fixable simply by the cpap machine and its numbers.
I really wish it was that simple because getting good numbers is the easy part.....getting the good sleep isn't so easy.

You are spot on as always. I find that as long as I can understand what is going on, I can deal with it. I do hope you are continuing to get some relief! Hugs

Of course, Pugsy is always right, that's why we love her!

My body feels better on prednisone but I turn into a crazy person that's really scary when tapering off! Glad that I don't have to be on it often or for very long!

Have you tried an anti-inflammatory diet or natural anti-inflammatories like turmeric to reduce your inflammation and pain?
Changing up your mattress (adding a 3" memory foam topper helped me a lot with hip and back pain) and/or pillows? A warming pad under the fitted sheet?

Prednisone was one of the drugs in my chemotherapy regimen.
It did what it was supposed to do, but I had to take additional insulin
to control the glucose spikes, and I had a "slight" tendency
to 'roid rage against non-maskers in enclosed spaces,
sometimes making a public scene at Wal Mart.

And well you should have, Chunk. They could take you down with them especially since you have had chemotherapy.
Your immune system is probably not the best due to the chemo treatment. Same as my wife, too.
Thankfully, she has been able to get off the maintenance chemo she was on based upon a second opinion from Johns Hopkins.
CPAP and chemo were her mix for a while. Now, only CPAP, and for most, that is hard enough.

My wife is the CPAP user.
