Do the Dreamwear Headgear tubes soften over time?

Post by Ikon » Wed Dec 22, 2021 8:57 pm

Hello all.

Coming up on my one year anniversary. Been going pretty well. Very helpful. One question for Dreamwear users.

What's been your experience for how long the tubing on the sides of the head last?

I've been using the same one for the full year. Structurally and sanitarily, it's fine.

But I'm wondering if the tubes soften over time - and if they squish more easily when I sleep on my side.

I'm in the 12-15 range - so I can feel the difference when one of the tubes is blocked.

Starting to wonder if changing the headgear more frequently would have any impact.

Thoughts?

I'm thinking of shifting to the Airsense F30 to eliminate this issue ... but I do like the freedom of movement.

So I got mine in the mail today. The cloth material is different and wider, and the arms change the whole game. I used it last night and was finally able to toss and turn, no movement at ALL. Simply amazing. I do plan to get an oral device in a few weeks, but damn this is nice.

Never really answered. I guess it fell through the cracks and he didn't come back and bump it up.
I can't answer the question because I never used the DreamWear long enough to see if it softened up or not.
Maybe Ikon will come back and update us now that he has used it for a while...

Yeah, who knew the approaching holiday would be a problem--
or that the first response might be a spam setup.

No worries guys. It was a very specific question. I knew there wouldn't be many if any replies.

I'm a side sleeper - and with the dreamwear that generally results in flattening one of the two feeder tubes.

My airflow ranges from 12-15 and I've read that flattening one of these tubes starts having an effect at 12.

I just wasn't sure if the age of the material had any bearing. So - maybe the newer the tubes, the less flat they get.

But I replaced the headgear with a new one with no apparent changes. So, I guess that mostly answered my question.

Hi Ikon, I used the Dreamwear for a sometime and loved it. I now use the the Resmed AirFit N30i and i like it better than the Dreamwear as the tubes don't seem to be sturdier. I also like the design of the hose connector at the top as it doesn't come apart from the mask as easy and it has a better release. Also, the accordion type design of the frame at the top adjusts better to my head.

I've been using the same Dreamwear mask for about 2 years and the tubes don't soften. The nasal cradle gets leaky after a while, though.
