Alternatives to OSCAR

Post by Redstormsju » Fri Oct 15, 2021 4:08 am

Hello all,

While I wait for the Airsense 11 compatible version of OSCAR, is there an alternative that I can use in the meantime?

And you won't have to wait much longer.

Well there's is always ResScan.
Though I don't know if it has been updated yet or even if it needs to be updated.

The beta is positively worth a looksee.
Historically, beta of this type of software is relatively complete.
Not like the oddball stuff put out by many commercial producers.

I am under the impression Resmed intends to support the 11 only in their AirView product.

Sure looks that way at least for now anyway. I would expect it to change with ResScan 6.2 release though.
If they didn't that would leave a lot of people screwed because not everyone in the world has adequate cellular access.

As a patient, am I able to download ResScan? I went to the page and I have to creat an account in order to download the software but it seems it may not be for lay folk or am I wrong? In the meantime, I’m having my Airsense 11 record data for when OSCAR is out of beta.

Officially ResScan is for the medical professionals but if a doctor writes a RX for ResScan then it is allowed that patients can have it and a DME will give it to them....or sell it to them.

OR

you know where to get it on the internet for free and no registration needed....

ResScan is Windows only software though. No other operating system version available. It is a huge slow bloated pig of a software and designed more for DMEs and doctors who manage large numbers of patients than single patient usage.
95% of the software is more office related than it is patient data related. Not nearly as patient oriented as OSCAR.

Right now the version available (if you knew where to look) for free hasn't been updated to be compatible with the AirSense 11 models though. So it is useless to you and we don't know when or if ResMed will release an updated ResScan version that is compatible. If you want to ever try ResScan go here and read the teeny tiny print down in the list of manuals available for the various ResMed models. The instructions are there.
https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap- ... tup-manual

If you want examples of what ResScan shows there is an old video
http://montfordhouse.com/cpap/resscan_tutorial/ Tutorial

To be honest...not worth the work.

But it won't work with your machine at this time anyway. Right now version 6.1 which is the latest version is not compatible withe the AirSense 11 machines.
I am pretty sure OSCAR 1.3 will be released long before ResScan 6.2 and we don't know yet if 6.2 will be compatible or not.

While I don't have an 11 - IF Resmed retained any of the features from the 10 you will have data displayed on the screen under "Sleep Report" right after turning the cpap off.

That should hold you over until Oscar is available.

That is if your cpap captures data other than hours of use.

Meanwhile watch for a post from BlueDragon who will have up to date info on the progress.
