Confused about the recall

Post by tobindia » Mon Oct 11, 2021 12:37 pm

My wife and I both use Phillips ResMed AirCurves. Hers is a 10 ASV. Mine is a 10 S. When we first heard about the recall, we checked the model numbers on the Phillips website and, not seeing our devices listed, were relieved. However, she recently received a recall notice from Phillips indicating that her device was being recalled, although her device does not appear to be on the enclosed list. Our devices were prescribed by different doctors. We've had these devices for 2-3 years. They replaced other Phillips devices, though we don't know what models the old devices were.

So, what's going on? Are we reading the recall notices wrong?

Sound like un-recalled Resmed products that are not associated with Philips Respironics.
AirSence 10 Autoset, Dreamstation 2 backup, Swift FX, Z1 for travel.

Philips Respironics does not make Resmed machines. Resmed is its own company and is not part of the recall. Maybe your old machines were Philips.

My wife and I have both had Resmed machines since we first started treatment. She received a letter from Philips advising her of the recall. I don't know how they ever got her name since neither one of has ever used a Philips machine.

They probably are getting some end-user names from DMEs. And we know how accurate DMEs are in their operation.

No you don't.

You should figure out what kind of a machine you both have.

What you've said is the equivalent of saying "I drive a Ford Mercedes", it's pure nonsense.

What's going on is that you really don't know what you're using.
Reading the labels on the machines would help.......for starters.
They weren't on the P/R website because they are NOT P/R machines......
They're ResMed machines......which are not under a recall.
ResMed makes the model 10 machines......ASV and "S".

You'll be just fine. Quit fretting over this.

You're probably right about that. We got them through different DME companies. I used a local company for mine. When it was time to get her machine, the local company had lost their Medicare contract, so we used an online DME that would accept Medicare. The local DME did not stock Philips machines, only Resmed machines. The online DME carried both brands.

I wonder if the word Respironics (used by Philips) has confused people...

Speaking of confusing people, Please, just stop talking about things you have no idea about.

"Respironics is a *COMPANY* name, they were acquired by Philips.

You misunderstood my remark - I got Resmed and Respironics confused early on... the 'Res' made me think one was part of the other... just not the right one. Don't be such a tough guy!

Why is it nonsense to confuse (as a newbie) two Cpap related names beginning with Res?
