Difference between AirFit F20 and "For Her" version

Post by serabeth » Sun Oct 03, 2021 12:26 pm

Hello,

I was wondering if there is an actual difference between the AirFit F20 standard and for her versions. I know the for her version comes with purple headgear and is only available in small and medium, but is there an actual difference in shape/fit?

I've been using the standard AirFit F20 for about 3 years now even though it still annoys me. I have an issue where because the bridge of my nose is slightly too narrow for the mask, there is the tiniest bit of overhang and air blows directly into my eyes. I've been dealing with this by purchasing cheap eye masks from amazon and tucking it into my mask to sort of create a seal. This works okay, but sometimes when I move around in my sleep, I end up with painfully dry eyes in the morning.

Anyways, I finally got my doctor that hasn't helped me with anything at all to give me a prescription for a new machine, mask, etc. with the justification that I need it because of the philips dreamstation recall. I want to use this prescription to also replace other gear like my annoying mask.

Any suggestions? I currently use a size small in the airfit F20 and was thinking maybe the for her version might be slightly more narrow in the bridge of the nose? A bunch of google searches though, and I can't find any differences other than the color. The for her version even uses the exact same cushions and sizing as the standard version =/.

Note that I have tried a hybrid mask that doesn't go across the bridge of my nose, which was the philips dreamwear full face mask. That was slightly too wide for my nostrils even in the small size, and I got blasted with air in my eyes even worse :(. So I had to go back to the AirFit F20. My nostrils are super annoying and get blocked all the time -- I've seen an ENT specialist that says the canals are very narrow and it doesn't take much to block them =/. So because my nostrils are awful, I pretty much can't use a nasal mask and can't use a hybrid mask, either.

As I see it now, my options are either the AirFit F20 for her, if it's any narrower in the bridge of the nose than the standard version, or maybe trying the ResMed Quattro Fx (for Her maybe?), if anyone has experience with that. Or I'm open to other suggestions if anyone has them.

I have the N-20 "for her ". The small cushion is the same. The headgear and the frame seem slightly smaller but it may be because my old stuff was worn and stretched out.

The frame is the same size for both models. The headgear on the for her model is the same size and the small headgear for the regular F20 mask. My wife and I both use the F20. She has the for her frame and a regular headgear. I keep her in the for her frame so I can easily identify which mask frame is which when I clean them.

Okay, thank you! I guess if it's not working for me then, maybe I'll try a different full face mask. I was thinking I may try a nasal mask too, for the nights when I don't have congestion. I'm kind of a mouth breather though, so I'm not sure that'll work. My husband has nasal pillows, but I hate those. They feel super bulky and even the small ones don't really seal inside my nostrils. I've really tried shoving them up in there and tightening the straps, too XD.

Really I just both hate and love the device and masks in general. I hate the hassle and I've never been fully comfortable with it. Either I don't get a good seal and my eyes get blasted with air or I do, but I have literal sores on my face that last for weeks. But I was dying of exhaustion before I got diagnosed....we're talking every day I was falling forward, trying to keep my head from hitting my desk. I would fantasize every day at work about just lying down on the floor and sleeping. After CPAP, I wouldn't say I'm full of energy perse, but I no longer do any of that :).
