general questions/therapy

Post by 1speechpick » Fri Jul 16, 2021 12:44 pm

I want to sincerely apologize for the confusion and frustration I created for not following the posting protocol of only using a single thread for posts (I was using a new thread for each topic). I'm thankful someone pointed it out to me, as I was not aware (yes, I missed reading that part of Pugsy's instructions for newbies). It truly was not my intention to upset and/or frustrate anyone, and I'm truly sorry if I did. If I did frustrate anyone, it my hopes that you can forgive this newbie.

I discussed my mistake with Pugsy. Pugsy had a great recommendation to help rectify my situation. Again, my apologies. I'm always open to any suggestions, and am grateful for this forum.

If every poster who started new threads for new questions was as honorable as you, the forum would be getting awards from ... whoever does such things. Stop worrying about it (we did a little PM'g before) especially as I was over the top with my words, and nice to know such a good person's here!

While I can merge threads/topics it really creates a mess with the replies since I can't change the fact that each reply gets date and time stamped and there will be a fixed order to them. Merging can potentially make replies totally out of perspective and difficult to know what the reply pertains to.
So I won't try doing that here. Will just create a bigger potential headache.

So what I can do that is easy is just provide links to OP's past threads and people can read them and get caught up on the history a bit...if they want to. If they don't want to take the time then that is fine as well.

http://cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t ... 8#p1388558

http://cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t ... 0#p1388350

http://cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t ... 6#p1388096

http://cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t ... 1#p1388081

http://cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t ... 0#p1387860

http://cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t182366/n ... tions.html

http://cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t ... 0#p1387780

http://cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t ... 2#p1387442

That's enough I think. Most people won't bother anyway and if someone really is interested they can go to OP's profile and search for all posts.

From now on OP is going to use this as the main thread and ask random questions about stuff....at least for next month or 2.

Has anyone successfully synced their Wellvue oximeter device (or similar device) with Oscar?

You really should be using the search box up there on the left below the forum logo.

O2Ring's data can be imported into OSCAR.

With the usb cable use 02 Insights Pro from Wellue to download the data into your PC.
Then within Oscar you go to Data -> Import Viatom Data

Alternatively with Android phone.

Thank you, GrumpyHere! I appreciate the links. Unfortunately, the workaround looks a bit advanced for low-tech people like me. I need a low tech step by step guide in order to have a shot of syncing the data (I don't have advanced computer knowledge).

I am not sure at what granularity you would consider a step by step guide. But try this.

1. Download and install o2 insight pro
https://getwellue.com/pages/pc-software

Note the directory where the oximeter files will be stored.
You can go back and look at "Options" section of o2 insight if you forget the directory.

2. Connect the O2Ring with the included cable to your computer.

Synch the oximeter clock with your computer from within the "Configure" section of o2 insight. Absolutely necessary step if you want the oximeter data to line up correctly with OSCAR charts.

3. Wear the ring when using your CPAP.

4. Connect the O2Ring with the included cable to your computer.
Download the data from the ring.

5. Start Oscar and import your usual CPAP data for the day.

Within Oscar you go to Data -> Import Viatom Data.

Navigate to the directory in step 1.
In that directory there is going to be another directory with serial number matching your ring. Nav into that directory.

Select the file that has the timestamp for the day you want to import.
Click open.

The oximeter, pulse, movement charts wind up near the bottom of OSCAR chart stack.
There is going to be a lot of events added to the event flags chart at the top.

You can also create a separate profile just for the oximeter data. Makes it easier to read than from within o2 insight program or with your phone app.

It's an exercise in free association

I often have to resort to using Google because lots of important terms are shorter than 3 characters.

i think it's more of that than anything. i feel you have to remember some strand of something, then go looking for it.

anyway, i'm dragging the thread off topic.

The last Mac I had was the first x86 mini, many moons ago.

But I just found detailed instructions at apneaboard's wiki via Google search.

There are also instructions using the vihealth app instead of o2 insight pro.

https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.p ... ile_Import

macOS

Download and install Viatom's free O2 Insight Pro software.

Connect your oximeter to your Mac via Bluetooth.
The O2 Insight Pro window should say "Device connected" in the bottom right corner.

Click Download.

The downloaded session files will be stored in /Users/YourUserNameHere/Library/Containers/com.viatom.O2PCViewer-BLE/Data/Library/Application Support/O2_Insight_Pro/DATA/SerlalNumber.

The "Library" folder is hidden by default, but you can still reach it by pressing cmd-shift-G and entering "~/Library" in the file selection dialog.

Import the Downloaded Sessions into OSCAR

Select Data > Import Viatom Data in OSCAR's menu bar.

Navigate to the folder where your downloaded session files are stored.

See above for the location, depending on how you downloaded the data from the device.

The session files are named after the time at which each night's recording started, e.g. 20200408214533 for April 8, 2020 at 9:45:33 pm.

Select the folder containing the session files and click Open.
All sessions in that folder will be imported, and previously imported sessions will be skipped.

Alternatively, if you want to import only a single session, you can select just that session file.

What is considered to be a "normal" minute vent value?

There's a very wide range of what constitutes "normal".
It varies widely due to sex, height, weight, body build, etc.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minute_ventilation

In terms of what you see on the cpap software data it really isn't a data point that we normally worry about from the regular cpap machines.
Only important when someone is on a real ventilator where the machine is actually forcing a targeted amount of air movement.

Thanks for your response, Pugsy! I noticed last night my minute vent ranged from 3-4 (I have small frame, normal BMI, 5' 4' height, age mid 50s). The tidal volume was normal. Is 3-4 low for a minute vent?
