Do any of these anti-snoring gadgets really stop sleep apnea?

Post by WWu777 » Thu Oct 29, 2020 8:44 pm

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering. On ebay there are a lot of anti-snoring gadgets which pull your jaw forward and claim to stop loud snoring and sleep apnea. Do they really work for sleep apnea? Any of you try them before? I don't get how you can keep a silicone piece in your mouth all night without spitting it out during sleep.

I've seen clinics promote some type of new invention that pulls your jaw forward too. They custom make it for your jaw and teeth and charge hundreds of dollars for it. Any of you know if those things work?

Here are some examples from Ebay of what I'm talking about. I'll just post images. If you want to find them on ebay, just type "sleep apnea" or "anti snoring" there or something.

I don't get how placing something like this between your nostrils is supposed stop snoring? Strange.

Do any of these work at all? Or are they only for the most light snorers? Any of you try them before?

Buy/try as many as you like, then let us know how it goes.
All the devices you list are scams--capable only of removing money from your possession.
None are serious medical devices.

The first thing you need to realize is that "snoring" and "sleep apnea" are not mutually inclusive.

People can snore and not have sleep apnea and people can have sleep apnea and not snore.
Snoring CAN be an indicator, but not a cause. Eliminating snoring doesn't mean you've eliminated sleep apnea.

BINGO! Snoring or Sleep Apnea aren't gender specific and neither is "weight". Skinny people can have either or both, too.

Now that I think of it, anti-snoring devices CAN stop apneas; by preventing effective treatment,
they will contribute to cessation of all breathing--thus ending apnea.
---or would that be converting all the single apneas into one long PERMANENT one?
Whatever . . ,

The micro nose-insertable fan units do provide positive pressure but it is very low and not strong enough to counter heavy apnoea stoppages. The nose rings and mouth guards do work but only for snoring...they can't help with the deep breathing stoppages.

You do know that there are no units on the market that actually contain blowers (fans)?

I am not getting paid to put up anything. If I were, I'd be putting up backlinks to all those products above. But I am not. Only posted some pics for fun.

Dude, I put up this thread just for fun, and because I was curious about all those gadgets above. I was hoping you guys would get a good laugh out of them. Why do you take everything so seriously? I was just having some fun and poking fun at all those gadgets that look funny.

You wasted people's time going through all that... and we're not in a joking mood these days.
