Are the machines so different?

Post by bdz » Wed Mar 11, 2020 2:34 pm

I had been using a PR System One 960 ASV for a while with my Oracle mask. I was able to get my numbers down to AHI 5. Got an ResMed AirCurve 10 ASV. Put in the same numbers I used with the 960. Using Sleepyhead...my reports with the 960 showed so many events, from hypopneas, OA, and centrals and occasionally more. My first two nights on the AirCurve my AHI have been .69 and 2.5. The Sleepyhead report showed hardly anything.

Yes, the numbers were way lower, but my guess is that it caught and eliminated events? Wish I could say I feel more rested, but I don’t. Love the quietness of the AirCurve. I guess I’m just learning the difference between an older machine vs a newer machine. Hope my positive progress continues. The outside stress in my life could be the reason for feeling so blah.

It's not so much a newer vs older thing as it is a brand difference thing.

The two brands have two different algorithms when it comes to doing their respective jobs.
Doesn't surprise me one bit that you got lower numbers with the ResMed at pretty much the exact same settings as you were using on the Respironics.

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

If you want to try the Eclipse mask and want a special promo code to get a little off the price...send me a private message.

Ok...don’t know much about algorithms here. Glad to hear this. Thanks

Think of algorithms as music to make things run.
Change the melody--the dance steps and words are different too.
You still get across the dance floor, still get to hold your honey.
Think of the brands of different machines as different levels of physical fitness.
Or talented vs just OK bands.

Love your explanation. Thank you

I always had PR machines. my numbers were always 5-10 and sometimes above. then i switched from system one auto 560 to the resmed auto S-10. Right out of the box the first night, my numbers are constantly well below 5 and very seldom higher. I'm a resmed believer.
